With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, here are some low-cost and no-cost gift ideas to sweep your sweetheart off his/her feet:
A Love Letter
Nothing says “I love you” like a handwritten love letter. Tell him/her how much you love them. Remind them of a favorite trip, romantic moment or hilarious event in your history as a couple. If letter writing isn’t your thing, try writing a surprise “I love you” on the bathroom mirror or place a quick little love note in his/her purse (wallet) or coat pocket.
Personalized CD
Modern technology has made the art of getting music so easy these days. Burn 5-10 of your favorite love tunes onto a CD or load them onto your beloved’s iPod. Include a little “play me” sticky note and place the CD/MP3 player next to their morning coffee. Here’s a link for free CD cover templates.
Favorite Dessert
Call “your” restaurant and ask if you can buy your loved one’s favorite dessert to go. Most restaurants will oblige. Be sure to serve it on a plate. — Styrofoam isn’t that sexy!
Photograph
If you have a little time, try scanning a handful of photos of you and your sweetheart over the years and place them into a collage frame or small photo album. Be sure to purchase the album or frame first so you’ll have a better idea of how many photos you’ll need and how to crop them.
A Night at the Movies
You can plan your own romantic night at the show in the comfort of your own home. Buy or rent one of your favorite all-time flicks, pop some popcorn and get two extra large fountain sodas from your local 7-Eleven. Be sure to pick up some Raisinets, Goobers, Milk Duds and Dots – they can all be found at Target for about $1 a box.

I love the idea of a favorite dessert as an alternative to the typical box of chocolates…All of these are great suggestions actually. Thanks!
These are some great ideas. I like the one about scanning some photos of you and your spouse/partner from over the years and framing them. Great idea!
My hubby is the chef in the family so I ordered SEVERAL desserts from my favorite baker – I just couldn’t make up my mind! LOL!
I think the love letter one is every woman’s dream but probably one of the most difficult to write.
I am definitley writing on the mirror! I love that. I also really love the dessert idea- the styrofoam comment made me laugh!
Writing on the mirror, hmmm, make sure no company uses that bathroom that day!!
I think I’ll make my own desert, and share some with the neighbors.
