Snowflake Window Cling
Make a snowflake with fabric paint and glitter to make a great window cling.
Baggie (sandwich bag preferable)
Paper
Fabric paint (non-puffy)
Glitter
Directions:
- Cut a snowflake out of regular paper. You can also use a printed picture, magazine pictures, etc… Make sure the snowflake can fit in the baggie.
- Put your snowflake inside the baggie. Trace the outline of your snowflake on the outside of the baggie using the Fabric paint. Sprinkle with glitter. Set aside to dry.
- Once the paint is dry, you can peel your paint snowflake off the baggie. Makes a great window cling.
- (There is a bunch of different variations of this. Google homemade snowflake cling to see more.)
Edible Snowflakes
Edible Snowflakes made with tortillas. (when I was a preschool teacher this was a favorite)
Materials needed:
Flour Tortillas
Oil
Directions:
- Cut the tortilla using the same technique as cutting out paper snowflakes.
- Make snowflake shapes out of flour tortillas.
- Warm the tortilla in the microwave first to make it more flexible.
- Put a touch of oil in a pan and fry tortilla until it is crisp.
Some cute ideas to add:
- Sprinkle it with powdered sugar.
- Spread butter on one side of the tortilla and add cinnamon & sugar.
- Use deli meat (bologna, turkey, ham, cheese, etc.) and make a cute winter themed sandwich or wrap.
An old favorite: Cinnamon Applesauce Ornaments
- I found a great recipe tutorial at AllFreeCrafts.

Stampin’ Up!
- And last but not least, I went to a Stampin’ Up! workshop recently and they have fantastic card and gift ideas that even a novice crafter can do! Here’s a picture of a card I made.

- It was sooo simple. I think I have found a new crafty love!
- It’s a great company. If you are interested go to Stampin’ Up!

Craftymom-
I can’t wait to try the edible snowflakes! That is such a cute (and yummy) idea.
I know, I became quite hungry when I was posting this post.
That card that CraftyMom made is beautiful! I am not a scrapbooker but I could see myself making cards.
I LOVE the applesauce and cinnamon ornaments. They smell delicious. I have a snofake cookie cutter, too!
I got hungry writing the post!!!
@Pam that’s why I like this company. It combines a lot of different crafts and it’s really easy to do. I also made a gift card bag, a gift card stocking and a bunch of really cute gift tags. I am going to post it on my blog next week. Next month’s workshop is birthday cards. I can’t wait!! I love getting my craft on!!!
These are all great, but I also LOVE the edible snowflakes! What a great idea!
The girls and I made the edible snowflakes for lunch today. Actually they were snowflake toastados and we made the desert cinnamon snowflakes with honey and vanilla yogurt ice cream. Yummy according to the girls and they really enjoyed participating since they love cooking. Thanks for the cute and sweet ideas.
Edible snow flakes are a cool idea. My little one would love that.
MAKE OUR OWN WINDOW CLINGS??? How cool is that? We are all about window clings. I love sticking those things up. We have lots. The kid loves to put those up too. I had no idea we could make our own. I need to get some fabric paint. I’m doing the gingerbread house kits this weekend for my daughter and her friend. They would really enjoy making some clings.
We might even make the edible snowflakes as well.
Thanks CMO3
Hi Puff! How are you doing??? That is such a good idea with the honey & vanilla! Toastados! I love it.
I am so glad y’all like the edible snowflakes. They were my preschoolers favorite.
@Lily, just make sure you get non puffy paint. The puffy doesn’t come off the plastic of the sandwich bag.
I love these ideas. I am always amazed at how creative people are. I didn’t inherit that gene, but that is what is great about blogging – you get to pick the brain of others!
.
Lily, let us know how your Crafty Weekend goes, please.
Just a quick idea if you have children or grandchildre. You can make a jelly roll pan of rice crispie bars and cut them in squares and make a house from this. Use frosting or peanut butter to assemble. Decorate with any small candies or notions that you have. Kids can eat their creations and there is no waste.
CMo3 – Great ideas and kids made a winow cling with “Let it Snow,”
So cool! Send me a pic!
Just wanted to make a quick suggestion- something we’ve always done and our daughter really enjoyed.
Santa gets lots of cookies but the reindeer need a snack too!
I let her mix together whatever reindeer friendsly food we have on hand, typically some variation of the following:
Oatmeal
powdered sugar
raisins
cereal
marshmallows
nuts
She still loves combining and mixing- when she was smaller- the mixing would keep her busy for 30 minutes!
Before bed let the little ones sprinkle it outside. She loves waking up to see that they usually eat it all. Important note: Whatever they dont eat needs to be swept up asap- if it rains you will have a mushy mess!
Got the paints today. Making clings tomorrow. Hope they turn out. I really wanted to try the edible snowflakes. I skipped them since we’re also doing the gingerbread houses. They will be happy w/a pizza from the freezer.
