Our bedroom is my favorite. I just got a pretty couch and tufted bed, and new bedding – this is my most recent purchase! My husband and I have a coffee maker in our bedroom which also makes it a great place – nothing like coffee in bed to start the day! We live in center city Philadelphia and LOVE our neighborhood too – not a room, but considered part of our home! Thanks for asking!
Our Family room, it’s where my family all hangs out. It’s my favorite room in my house. It’s where I can have peace when I send the kids to the playroom when the house gets too loud and I’m close enough I can keep an eye on the kids!!
My last big purchase was a bookshelf. It took me almost a full year finding the right one. I love books and my last bookshelf got broken on the last move. It may be considered a household necessity but it’s only for my books and it’s in the master bedroom so the kids can’t go and destroy my books.
I know this isn’t as exciting but I love fruit.
Favorite room: my bedroom aka my sanctuary.
Last purchase: a nice big comfy chair for my living room. As soon as its delivered, I may switch my favorite room to the living room! (Darlene – bookcase – I totally relate! Glad you have a safe place to keep your prized books from the little ones!).
Favorite food: I love burritos. I could probably eat them everyday if it weren’t for the pesky calories and fat, etc. Sigh.
We also hang out in the family room and so I do enjoy that room but I love the living room the most. It is kind of my room. I have my own DVR recorder and so I watch just my shows in that room. The ones that my husband could care less about. They are usually “women’s” shows and so after watching so many crime/dramas with him, it is a welcome relief. Also there are six French Doors that open up to our patio and pool area and because of the climate we live in I can leave them open and have a wonderful breeze. Also the dogs love to sit in there with me.
My last purchase would be a new bra and a pair of warm pjs. Not a really big splurge but wanted and needed just the same.
I love CPK’s Barbecue Chopped Chicken Salad but if we are talking about a meal I would have to say Thanksgiving dinner with the ham, turkey and dressing and pumpkin pie. We usually only have that once a year so it tastes even better because of that.
Anya, we just bought my husband a big comfy chair for his birthday. He is enjoying his and I hope you are enjoying yours.
Flowerfish, that sounds lovely. I am not a coffee drinker but hot chocolate would be great also and I would love having a bedroom big enough to have a couch.
Hey Darlene, fruit is exciting. Especially watermelon. I can’t wait until it is back in season.
I spend 50% of my time when I am home either in my office and 50% bedroom!! I am single and work a lot, so my time at home is limited. In the Summer I spend a lot of time in my Sun Room. My Sun Room is not heated ( next major project)
I have everything I need for furniture!! This is not a household necessities, I bought a Magic Bullet the other day, and yesterday I bought some spacer beads to finish a Gem stone Necklace I am working on. Not to exciting is it? ha ha
I have been working on a project for three years to get a patent. As of November my Patent became final. Yea!! I have done all this alone, without borrowing any money. Now getting it out in the market and the manufacturing is very expensive!!
My favorite food is Mexican food!! I love smothered Green chili burritos. The Green Chili must be fresh Hatches Green Chilies!! In the Summer I buy the fresh Green Chilies and have them roasted then I freeze them. I make my own Green Chili.
Favorite room: Bedroom: I like to read in this room, I also keep my computer in the bedroom.
Most recent purchase: A gold cross and chain for a special friend who is to be Confirmed. My daughter is her sponsor.
Favorite meal: Italian food. I love it all!
Favorite room: bedroom. That’s where I spend most of my relaxation time.
Recent purchase: new laptop! I love it. I had a netbook (well, I still have it), and while the price and portability were unbeatable, the small screen drove me crazy.
Favorite food: so many to choose from…I’d have to go with either fried chicken or ice cream (anything with caramel).
Favorite room is either the living room or the dining room that we converted into a computer/ den room. Both rooms are sprinkled with Steelers stuff so it is like I have part of Pittsburgh still with me.
Last purchase was a flat screen that my husband swears it is what he really wanted
So I said enjoy your Valentines Day present and birthday and next Christmas
( Just kidding) He offered to buy me a piece of jewelry but I said thanks no thanks. For some reason I just don’t get into jewelry anymore. Now offer me some Steeler tickets or a jersey and I am on it!
I love all types of foods, italian, greek, sushi, even meatloaf and mashed potatoes. Most likely I would lean towards italian as my favorite.
Favorite room is right where I am in the family room (called the ‘big” room around here.) We’re all here, snuggled in by the fireplace waiting for a big snow storm.
Recent purchase: well, I think that’s our puppy (and the gear to go with her.) A puppy is definitely FUN.
Favorite Food: Thanksgiving. We eat that menu (in appropriate proportions) several times a year. Turkey, stuffing, cranberries, green beans, Brussels sprouts, corn, and pumpkin pie. Yum.
Mar, what did you invent? Congratulations on finishing the project and securing the patent. That’s a great accomplishment. I never talked to a real inventor/patent holder before!
Flowerfish, thanks for commenting. I’ve always wanted a comfy bedroom. Yours sounds luxurious. Coffee in the bedroom? That reminds me of an Office episode where Michael gets out of bed and steps on the George Foreman grill because he likes bacon grilling in his bedroom in the morning!
Mary, congratulations! That’s quite an accomplishment.
My favorite room is our living room which is a family room too. It’s comfy. It goes straight into the kitchen so there’s lots of floor space for my little one to play and the dogs too.
My most recent fun purchase were new memory foam pillows. I love them and I love new pillows. They are one of the things I never think about replacing. Also some minnetonkas not too long ago.
Picking a favorite meal is hard. I love roast beef and mash potatoes w/gravy. Also a good filet mignon. I don’t eat red meat often, so I love it more when I do.
Combine a new flat screen TV, pillows and a puppy together and I don’t think I would ever leave the house again.
Ann, LMAO. I still remember that Office episode. Bacon grilling in the bedroom. That’s our Michael….!
Favorite Room: In the Summer it’s our sun porch (but much too cold to sit there in Winter!), the rest of the year it’s our living room.
Recent Purchase: We’re trying not to spend any money, but for my birthday last month my husband did buy me a pair of red leather gloves. I love them!
Favorite Meal: That’s a hard one, I have so many, my favorite meal to make lately is a no-boil lasagna, very easy, very delicious! Other than that I’m not into meals, my latest addiction is black olives, dark chocolate, and wine!
Pam, I’m jealous, I would so love to go bra shopping! Unfortunately that has become a ’splurge’ purchase because the ones I love are so darn expensive!
Lily and Ann: Sorry I have not read this thread for awhile!! And Ann my good friends call me Mar!! Thank you!! I designed and Patented a supply caddy. ( Doesn’t sound to exciting does it?) How this idea got started was I owned my own cleaning business for over 20 years, and have employees. We cleaned over three hundred homes in the Aspen Area. The problem being each girl had her own caddy, Those horrible long plastic worthless things!! Cleaning Product would spill out if you were not careful, and you would need to be careful where you placed the caddy. Scratch or stain an expensive piece of furniture. I designed a round caddy, made out of waterproof light canvas. Six inside pockets to carry the bottles in, and six outside pockets, for tile brushes, dusters, pumas stone. Two larger adjustable pockets to carry cleaning rags . The caddy will not tip or spill product out driving down the road.
After the Caddy was patented I sent twenty out to friends and told them to clean out from under their kitchen sink and put their cleaning products in. I don’t believe one of them has used for their cleaning supplies . The supply caddy is being used to take supplies to the beach, diaper bags, beauty products, Horse supplies and the list goes on!! I had each of them take a photo and send to me how they were using the caddy. I would have never guessed that the girls would find so many uses for it. Leave it up to a woman!!
I am looking to get on QVC one of these days!! I have applied with them!! Sent them a photo of the caddy, so we will see where I go from there.
This is going to be my retirement!! So I hope its a winner!! At least no one else has designed anything like it. So I am safe that way. Getting it manufactured and marketed is very expensive!! I am trying to do this without borrowing a lot of money. The problem I am having with some marketers is they want me to make a cheap product. I refuse to make it cheap!! I want it to be durable and worth the money you spend on it. They say make it cheap and it will wear out faster and I can sell more. uggggg I hate that idea. Not my style!!
Mary, Congratulations! How incredibly handy and I wish you much success. Funny, the uses your friends came up with vs. for what you designed it, sounds like people need 2 of them.
Kudos for not making a cheap product, I’d much rather pay for quality than something that falls apart on you, usually at the worst possible time.
Thank you Lily!! This has been a journey and its not over yet! I receive on the average of 10 letters a day wanting to promote my product. Funny!!! They want me to pay them $30,000.00 plus take half of the profits. Then you have these companies that wants to charge you 350.00 to make a plaque of your patent.
Its amazing how many scam artist out there.
