My daughter was with a friend this morning and she said the younger brother was pulling pranks all morning. He put a rubber band around the spray gun at the kitchen sink so that water sprayed on whoever turned on the spigot. He set his sister’s alarm for 1 AM. He replaced his father’s cereal with crumbled crackers.
My youngest once made an “art project” in school that was a turned over yogurt cup with a plastic spoon and pink colored Elmer’s glue dried into a spill-shape. She put it on my new end table. Grrr! I was mad! I was so happy to see it wasn’t real yogurt spilled all over.
I fell for a fake report in Discover magazine years ago about the “hot-headed hairless ice-borer.” It was such a fantastical creature! It was like a rat with a hairless bulge on its head with a kicked-up metabloism that could melt the Antartic ice underneath penguins to pop up and snatch and devour them. LMAO! I had never subscribed before that year. Apparently it is an annual tradition to publish something ridiculous in their April issue, which comes out in March.
I didn’t have any time to plan any pranks this year. I would have liked to have done something to someone.
It wasn’t an April Fool’s, but I did work in a group that was always pulling pranks. We got our co-worker to believe he was a winner. His son had been calling about a Publisher’s Clearing House letter that came at their house that was supposed to be different than all the letters. One of the guys, who was really funny thought up the idea to trick him and had me call the unsuspecting one at his desk. We had him going w/all the details until I asked him if he was going to share it w/his co-workers and named our names. I felt so bad when I saw his face when he came around the corner. I never thought about it being mean, but it was prob the girl in me (they were all guys). He got me back. They kept messing w/my phone line and had me call in trouble reports. I came in a couple of days later and there was a Big Bird phone in it’s place, so then I knew what he had been up to.
Ann, that is amusing about the prank in Discover magazine. I would have fallen for it for sure.
Lily, I think I am the same way as you about most April’s Fools Day pranks – I either think they are mean or I am just not clever or original enough to think up a good one.
I did fall for one today. Scanning the “Dancing with the Stars” news (which has become a daily habit LOL), I saw that Brooke Burke (the new co-host) announced that she was pregant with her 5th child. I was kind in awe and surprised she would become pregnant again when she just got this gig. Of course, I also thought of whether the “Mommy Police” who have been hounding Kate would have something to say. Anyway, I found out a few hours later that it was joke. Cute.
