Sounds like a cute episode. I do agree it seems like they are having to cobble together episodes from the footage they have on hand.
I know it’s a different show than the one most of us started watching, but I still enjoy it. I actually tune out the tabloid drama and just concentrate on the show. Monday night is my night to watch “mindless” (not a put-down!) TV, and I really enjoy this and DWTS.
I think each of the Gosselin children are adorable in their own way, but I really love the little girls, especially Alexis, so I am looking forward to seeing them experience this neat attraction.
i think the last few episodes, this one included, have been filmed previously (this past summer). i don’t think they are actually *cobbling* yet.
my reasoning is because i’ve seen the still shots throughout the summer on places like radar etc. like when kate took the boys on the battleship, the pap pix of them on the ferry etc. showed up months ago, but tlc hadn’t shown their filming yet.
i love the show still. i too separate the tabloid stuff from what i’m watching. at least for the time i’m watching it…lol. i love to watch all the kids really and i think kate has a way of talking and telling a story that is a gift. she makes me laugh.
I agree that these kids are really cute. I have always felt the draw to this show was the interaction (for better or worde) between Kate and Jon. Yet, when we sit down to watch, the kids are what make it really enjoyable, so they really are a big draw for many fans. No, I don’t think they should be on TV anymore because of thechaos associated with fame at this point, but it’s still a family of adorable kids. Count me as one of the adults who can see, admit, and appreciate that.
I agree with you Ann. The draw, by TLC’s own admission was Jon and Kate’s interaction. But, I have always enjoyed the show–in spite of–Jon and Kate. If Jon and Kate could stay off other media outlets, I could believe that they care about what this might be doing to the kids.
I read the new Vanity Fair article—-this is the last paragraph.
Will this ever end? “Sadly, I think the only thing we can be sure of now,” says Janice Min, “is 10, 15 years down the road, the E! True Hollywood Story: The Gosselin Kids.”
It was a pretty good article. It didn’t seem to take sides. Kind of doled out blame equally.
i know this week’s episode is barely over but did you see the preview for next week? i think it will be interesting. for those who didn’t:
kate answers your questions!
some i heard were:
do you read the tabloids about yourself
will you get married again
how do walk in those heels all the time
btw i liked this week’s episode too.
It was a shame they didn’t like the balloon ride but the girls were adorable with the butterflies, birds, and insects. The rocket did look like fun too.
Well the Vanity Fair article called the GWOPers right – INSANE. Overall much more interesting than the tabloid garbage.
Oh my goodness, How did they go up in that balloon? That was so brave of Kate. I had no idea they got so hot in there. I don’t like the idea of hovering over the ground. I want something else besides a basket. I got so tickled when Kate was freaking out about the bugs and then backed into the hanging mobile behind her and flipped. That was so funny. I also liked how the little girls were so into the bugs.
Kimmie, it is different to be following the show by the pap pictures this summer. Brought to us courtesy of Jon at the fence.

I enjoy it so much more without the friction. They wouldn’t not have had the audience draw without the friction they capitalized on. Now that I am so familiar with the show and the family, it’s more enjoyable to watch without the bickering that was being shown.

I agree with this statement, Ann. Although I no longer watch the show I have no problem with people that watch and enjoy the show. I personally think that perhaps it is time to give these kids a break from this all. Especially the hectic filming of 40 episodes a year and the “chaos associated with their fame.”
I certainly would watch and would appreciate yearly updates from time to time.
Cute-ish episode. At least the parts with Kate and the little girls. Jon, as usual, icked me out. There’s something about him with the kids where I get this sense that it’s all about what he wants to do. Not that they didn’t seem to be having fun, but I just get the sense that they’d be doing it whether they wanted to or not, because Jon wanted to.
I didn’t blame Kate for being freaked out by the insects – especially the millipede! I would’ve gone INSANE if someone had come at me with one of those things!
Of course, the butterflies freaked me out, too. I think I’m on record as being scared of butterflies. And those ones were so big!
I missed this episode. Do they still rerun these constantly? I love, love, love butterflies.
(I would NEVER take a balloon ride, though.)
Ann, they still rerun them. I watched part of raising twins and sextuplets the other day. The kids were so cute. I loved how Kate showed off her belly to the world.
Alexis with the millipede sooo cute.

I agree. It’s no surprise wild Alexis would take to the insects the most. All the girls seemed to get involved, however, and that was great.
Despite Kate’s reputation as being the scary task-master that the kids are afraid of, the girls seemed quite comfortable teasing her with the bugs and she seems to easily laugh at herself, which is refreshing.
That ballon ride was INSANE and there is no way I would let 3 5-year-olds go up in the that little ‘ol basket. Kate must be getter braver, but I don’t know that I think this was the best planned excursion.
I don’t know who came up with the rocket idea – Jon or the producers, but it didn’t seem suited to the boys age at all. I find myself being annoyed by Jon and the way he interacts with the kids or just bored when he is on screen. The less time he is on, the better for me.
Anya, I get annoyed with Jon’s attitude lately too, mainly because I would just like to tell him “Hey idiot, you’re really only hurting your kids with the “I don’t care” attitude.” I’ve questioned a lot about the reality of show, but I do believe that Jon was all for the kids having fun and was an active participant in their activities (vs. Kate, who was always worried about staining the clothes, messes, etc.) I really liked Jon’s “let the kids be kids” attitude, and I really hope for the kids’ sake he’s more active with them when the cameras are not rolling.

I wish the same.
Trying to see things from Jon’s perspective (really, really hard, but I am willing to give it a try), he obviously feels he has been mistreated by the producers and TLC so it appears in these recent episodes, he is just phoning it home. I can’t say I haven’t seen Kate do the same in some episodes (feet up on the coffee table LOL).
Hopefully, things are different when the cameras are off. One can hope.
I liked the episode. The little girls are darling. I don’t think I would’ve brought them up in the hot air balloon either, but they didn’t freak out, which shows their resilence. Kate could’ve worn something more appropriate for getting in a balloon. It’s not like she didn’t know she was going to have to climb into it.
I know the show was filmed in the summer, but seeing Jon with the rocket only reminded me of the recent antics of Richard Heene. Jon’s the milder version.
