Former Miss California Carrie Prejean, who was stripped of her crown in June (for disputed reasons; the producers of the pageant say that Prejean was in violation of her contract whereas she claims she was discriminated against because of her views on gay marriage) has settled a lawsuit she brought against the company that organizes the pageant. It’s been reported that Prejean settled the lawsuit after being shown a sex tape that she made, apparently for a boyfriend, when she was a teenager.
Prejean has been making the rounds on TV (The Hannity Show, The View, Today), and while she claims to take responsibility for the tape and regrets it, she also casts herself as the victim of the liberal media and claims that her critics are trying to “silence” her. What do you think – is she being victimized for her views, or is she responsible for at least some of the negative attention she has received?

Victim – hardly? Spoiled, opportunistic and not very bright covers it better. I can’t believe conservative activists can’t find a better spokeswomen than Ms. Prejean for their cause. She did them no favors by not coming clean right away about her little tape (which if recent media reports are to be believed she made when she was 20, not 17).
Apparently, she made quite the scene on Larry King Live last night when hard-hitting Larry (hardly) dared to ask The Princess to clarify why exactly she settled her lawsuit so quickly.
Are some folks taking delight in her humiliation right now? Sure, you bet. However, I fail to see how she has been silenced in any way (if only we were so lucky). She’s been seen on virtually every major news and talk show this week…….
I have to admit that I have not followed this story very closely but I am aware of most of what has went on.
I watched the Larry King video tonight and I must say that I did not see or hear Larry King do or say anything inappropriate. She had to have known that he was going to ask her questions about the settlement before she went on that show. She made a commitment to do the show and she should have discussed with her manager, adviser or publicist before the show how to best handle those type of questions.
She wrote a book and wants Larry King to help her sell it – she has to expect that he wants something out of this interview also.
She has made choices in her life, some of them not so good. They should not define her however she has to understand they are a part of who she is. If she wants to be in the public eye ,(and obviously she does) she will have to learn how to handle interviews without letting her attitude get the better of her.
To answer your question, yes she is responsible for some of the negative attention she is receiving.
Heck no! It all started with the “question” and she flubbed what she said. It’s not what she said but how poorly she spoke. And Carrie, FYI beauty contests are firmly in the gay world. If I hear her say she is being muzzled one more time…..Yes she has the right to free speech but with it comes the right of others to be critical of what she says. Duh! She says LK was inappropriate? Obviously she doesn’t know the meaning of the word. Asking a typical interview question is not inappropriate but making sex vids is.
I agree with all of you. My issue with her is not so much what she said at the Miss USA pageant (though I disagree with her) but that she seems to have an arrogant, prima donna attitude, and when it gets her in trouble (as it did with the Miss California folks), she tries to play the political card and act like a censorship victim. The fact is, she’s gotten a lot more out of all this than she could have reasonably expected, and if some of it has been negative, well, then, that kind of comes with the territory. I’m sure she’ll have those who will continue to support her but I think she’d do much better to drop the attitude if she wants to be in the public eye.
I am very conservative, and I am so tired of her. She is way over her 15 minutes. I don’t find her sincere in the least. She is looking for her ticket to the big time. I can’t believe she has a following among conservatives. She was just silly on Larry King Live. I don’t think she is a victim. Remember the old saying Carrie, you can be thought ignorant, or open your mouth and remove all doubt. Don’t go away mad, just go away.
She is WAY beyond her 15 minutes. I put her up there with the Balloon Boy story. She honestly makes no sense to me whatsoever. Now they are saying she was older than 17 in this supposed “tape” and that she asked the former beau to lie about it. Stupid.
I thought she greatly overreacted on Larry King. I’m not sure what she expected out of an interview but questions kind of go with the territory. I thought she was incredibly rude to him, and in the long run she really only made herself look worse.
I don’t think the sex tape issue should be held against her- we all make misatkes and I find the people who release these tapes repulsive. She does have to be accountable for the way she presents herself, and she’s certainly not coming off very well.
Larry certainly did not ask her anything inappropriate. In fact, if she actually listened and understood his question, she had the opportunity to portray herself in a much better light than what she has (the surfacing of that tape) and she could’ve explained her side of things, too.
Pam, you hit on a couple of really great points. One of them being that Larry King should expect to get something out of that interview too. She (and her people) are either ignorant of how talk shows works or just plain full of themselves. She doesn’t control the agenda, that’s Larry (or whoever the host is). Someone needs to tell her that or she won’t be successful in promoting her book.
I agree Pam that she is responsible for some of the negative attention she is receiving. She needs to get an attitude adjustment and perhaps some talent if she wants to stay around longer than her 15 minutes. Right now, she’s just riding those 15 minutes for as long as she can.
Radar On Line is reporting :
There are 30 nude photos and eight sex tapes of former Miss California Carrie Prejean, < Now a RadarOnline.com investigation has uncovered that there are SEVEN more “biggest mistakes” of her life – all of them solo performances, just like the one sex tape that the religious beauty queen has admitted to. And there are 30 photos of Carrie, most topless, some showing everything, and most taken by Carrie using her reflection in a mirror.
I am somewhat surprised that Carrie Prejean did not realize when she entered the Miss California contest that this would not come back to haunt her.
I could care less about the sex tapes….but I think this woman is a twit. She lost the pageant because she lost the pageant. Get over it. Get off of my TV and grow some brain cells.
