The March issue of Runner’s World is out and on the stands and Kate Gosselin is featured in the “I’m a Runner”  section. This is not available on line yet but you can check here periodically to see when it is available.

Someone did scan and tweet a copy of the article to Twitter and here are a few highlights:

• Kate’s daughter Cara is into running and will run a mile or two with her .
• She use to run five to six miles a day six days a week but because of the kids’ schedules she now runs 10 miles every other day.
• The best part of running the Las Vegas Marathon this past December was that her kids were able to see her complete a goal.
• She has her phone with her in case one of her kids need her and she will text people while running if need be.
• When she runs she is very specific about certain things such as having her hair tied back in a knot or her headphones placed a certain way to cut down on annoyance factors.
• She became discouraged after mile 13 while running her first marathon because the most miles she had completed at one time was 20. For the last eight miles, she ran one mile for each one of her kids.

Kate Gosselin has a new blog post up on Coupon Cabin and she is sharing some info on the Gosselin’s German Shepperd, Shoka.  Shoka originally came to the Gosselin family in December of 2008 along with his sister, Nala.

Both pets were featured on the TLC show Jon & Kate Plus 8  when they were first brought into the Gosselin household. However, they really had their “15 minutes of fame” when they were returned to the breeder at a time when both Jon and Kate were going through a difficult divorce. Their dramatic return was filmed by one of the many paparazzi that were following the divorce drama and of course it was posted by the numerous rag mags.

In November of 2010, Kate made the decision to bring Shoka back into the family and it appears that Shoka has made himself right at home and become an intricate part of the Gosselin family. In her recent blog post she discusses the unconditional love that he doles out to the children and how in return they lovingly care for him.

Kate also gives some tips for saving on pet care and supplies and there are some great coupons that offer nice discounts at the end of the post. It wasn’t that long ago that Imperfect Women did a post titled A Few of Our Favorite Things – Pet Edition! where we discussed some our favorite pet care supplies.

Pack your bikinis and your passports, Kate Gosselin fans! Kate will be hosting a Western Caribbean cruise August 12-19, 2012, and she’s invited her fans to join her.  Kate tweeted,

“Kateplusmy8  Here’s a big announcement that will have an Allure for you and your kids kategosselincruise.com Come hang out! Can’t wait to meet you!”

and,

“Kateplusmy8 I can’t wait to meet you all! Pls don’t miss it! I’m getting all teary eyed hoping2meet so many of u in 1 place!”

Kate tweeted several of her followers personally inviting them to join her on board Royal Caribbean’s cruise ship Allure of the Seas as it visits Haiti, Jamaica, and Mexico this summer.  The itinerary promises exclusive events with Kate including a private welcome cocktail party, personal photo, private brunch, a Q&A session, a shore excursion, personalized gift, and a craft activity.

From watching Kate’s Twitter feed this afternoon, it’s obvious many of her followers would love the chance to meet Kate in person in a beautiful setting. I know Kate invited a few of our readers here. Is anyone planning on signing up for a cruise with Kate this summer?

I came across an interesting read in the New York Times today that featured TLC’s Executive Vice President of Public Relations, Laurie Goldberg.  Ms. Goldberg is the top spokesperson for TLC and is responsible for handling many of the public relation sticky situations that come the network’s way.

The most recent controversy that sparked national interest as well as the interest of many of the readers of Imperfect Women involved Lowe’s Home Improvement pulling their advertising from TLC’s “All-American Muslim” television show. With this controversy as well as many others she has handled, she basically had no comment which is Public Relations 101 in how not to encourage the controversy to multiply and grow.

Many of us who have followed Jon and Kate Plus 8 and then Kate Plus 8 are familiar with Laurie Goldberg or at least recognize her name. She has worked with TLC since 2007 and was the PR person for the shows throughout their consecutive runs. I have emailed back and forth with her several times and she is always very helpful. Many times she does give you information but states that it is off the record. The last time I contacted her was regarding the arrest of William Blankinship. Although TLC was not commenting because Blankinship did not work for them, she pointed me in the right direction to get the appropriate statement I needed.

There was information and quotes shared within this article that also involved Kate Gosselin that I found somewhat interesting.

Kate Coyne, an assistant managing editor for People magazine was interviewed for this article and had this to say about Ms Goldberg’s relationship with Kate Gosselin:

“She’s in a really unique position because she works with reality-show talent that don’t have publicists of their own,” said Kate Coyne, who met Ms. Goldberg while covering the very public collapse of Kate and Jon Gosselin’s marriage.

“Laurie Goldberg is just about the only person I’ve ever seen say to Kate Gosselin, ‘You can’t do that.’ She’s very, very maternal in that sense,” Ms. Coyne said.

Although Ms. Goldberg declined comment for this article, there were quotes from her that I had never seen before.  One quote that I think we can all relate to …..”TLC’s shows, “Jon & Kate” chief among them, were addictive — they were like “digital crack,” she exclaimed (and sometimes complained) to reporters who would call and e-mail for comment.”

I totally get what she is saying there. I think a good deal of us, fans and non fans alike, went through those “digital crack” withdrawals this past August when the show was cancelled. No so much withdrawals from the show but more so from the drama surrounding it.

It was also interesting to learn that Laurie Goldberg traveled to Alaska frequently and was involved in the filming of the Sara Palin’s Alaska. She dined with the Palin family as they ate Todd Palin’s latest catch and she also babysat for the Palin kids at one point. According to this article, Goldberg was the person that Kate Gosselin was talking to when Kate listed her grievances about the trip — “I am freezing to the bone. … I’m hungry.”

“I felt like Forrest Gump,” Ms. Goldberg told her boss, Eileen O’Neill upon her return. In an interview, Ms O’Neill joked: “I’m still paying for that trip.”

Probably the most telling quote from Goldberg was this one when discussing the Gosselin show:

On that show, and later, on “Sarah Palin’s Alaska,” she found that some bloggers would speculate freely without asking for comment, spurring reporters at more mainstream outlets to chase the rumors — a race to the bottom that she could do little to control.  

 

Hmmmm…….I am wondering whom she is referring to?

Kate Gosselin has her own blog now and she is using it set the record straight on the latest rumor.  Recently a trashy publication name HollyBitchyBaby has reported two rumors regarding Kate Gosselin.

Last week  they reported that Kate was jealous of her ex-husband Jon Gosselin’s girlfriend, Ellen Ross. In their most recent article they reported that, “Kate has been set up on many blind dates,” a source tells us. “But finally one guy has caught her eye. He’s not in showbiz but she met him at an event. The two have been quietly seeing each other but she hasn’t introduced him to the kids.”

Kate took to her blog and wrote:

Rumor has it that I have a “new boyfriend” that I’ve been seeing “secretly,” that I am keeping quiet and haven’t introduced to my kids yet.

Fact is: Unless my running shoes, kitchen utensils, or wrapping paper are considered “dates,” I have not been on any dates and certainly no “blind dates” set up by friends…. Sorry Hollybaby, you lack credibility and are lying, as usual. Once again, if you read something about me (or most other people in the media) in a tabloid where information has been provided by an unnamed “source” you can assume it to be completely fabricated and totally false.

 

I guess this publication will now need to revert back to the “she is secretly seeing her bodyguard” nonsense.

On Twitter, someone asked her about the story regarding Jon’s current girlfriend and she responded, “ha. Another made up story… Can’t address them all… I leave the 1s like these alone that are very obviously false!”

Kate also has a new blog post up at CouponCabin. She discusses how this year she will start a new tradition in her family and have their big Christmas holiday meal on Christmas Eve before they attend services. This will save her time and energy on Christmas Day and allow her more time to enjoy with her family!
