When the gladiator first popped up in 2008 I wasn’t sure. Actually I thought they looked outlandish. As with most trends, the more I see it- the more it grows on me. . .

Throughout history, humans have used decorative body art to represent personal achievements, personality traits and to make a statement or express a personal philosophy. Getting a body tattoo is becoming more common today. In the past they were stereotypically common on prison inmates and people who belonged to motorcycle gangs. Now tattoos are seen on moms, teachers, lawyers and doctors.

Oops! How embarrassing. Katherine Heigl was accepting an award at the ShoWest Awards last night and her shoulder strap on her designer dress snapped in the middle of her speech. Flustered at first ( and rightfully so) she regained her composure. Host Billy Bush stepped up to the plate and gallantly spared her any further embarrassment by holding the outfit in place while she finished her speech.

Manicure on the go? It’s possible! My new favorite beauty tool is Nicole by OPI Nic’s sticks. Nail polish in an applicator that resembles a pen, with a brush in one end and a button that pumps out the polish in the other. As someone who can paint the left hand- but the right typically looks like a 2 year old polished it- I love the easy to use applicator! My favorite shade is “Cram For An Exam”- something I haven’t done in a while.

I received a gift for my birthday from Diana B Beauty Products and it is absolutely fantastic. They have a variety of wonderful fragrances from Green Tea to Peach Fragipani, to Black Fig but my new absolute favorite is the Chocolate Body Lotion. It is a combination of Chocolate and Amber with a hint of Coconut,Almond, and Star Anise. It is so delicious, I can’t stop smelling it! The best part is the way it makes my skin feel. Very silky and smooth, but not sticky or greasy. I think it’s a wonderful way to spoil yourself.
They also have a Chocolate Body Scrub and a Chocolate Bath Gel. You can check out the products at dianabbeauty.com

I of course have used tinsel to decorate my Christmas tree every December but I will have to admit that I have never thought about using it to decorate my head. The newest trend in the hair industry is called hair tinsel or Bling Highlights and Beyonce was seen sporting these at the 2010 Grammy Awards. This type of hair tinsel can also be purchased at Hair Flairs.

30 Rock star Tina Fey wore this dress by Zac Posen to the Golden Globes last week and it was not received warmly by many fashion critics. You can click here to see a better picture. One site called it an “unadulterated disaster.” Some of the issues with it were the busy pattern, the “dowdy” tea length and the unflattering tiers. They also compared it to a bad “80’s prom look.” Another said she looked like Little Bo Peep. People can be just so cruel.
How do you feel about this dress? Do you think it was a real fashion blunder?
