Anya,
Please don't compare Bush's spending to Obamas. Even if you leave out the idea that country defense should not be subject to a budget, Bush left office with a $450 billion deficit (the last $750 billion TARP fund was approved by the Democrat run Congress) for the fiscal year, while Obama has a $1.3 trillion deficit for this fiscal year, more than the last 16 years combined (despite 2 wars). Spending must stop.

To me it's simple why he picked this issue......it was the first spending bill since PAYGO was put into effect. Even if he didn't want it what's wrong with making these Polishitians stick to what they say.
All these guys do is say the things that sound great and then follow their own "agenda" anyway.
When Bush was in office and needed funding for the war the Democratic controlled Congress could have denied the funding which would have brought the war to an end. In public though they were screaming to end the war. They just did not have the guts to do it.
The Democratic controlled Congress could have denied the Bush Administration the Patriot Act, they didn't have the guts to do it. In public they were saying how it would trample on our "Rights". Kind of interesting that Obama last week signed a bill that extended the Patriot Act another year. Of course he signed it on a Saturday night, but where was the outrage by the Democrats? When Bush sent troops to fight in the war, he was called a "baby killer' and they were trying to impeach him. Obama sends troops to Afghanistan and all of a sudden it's ok! Where is Code Pink now??
Stop blaming Bush it's a new President who has been here for over a year now.

I am so leery of these. I was in my 20's during the 80s and obsessed w/my figure. I remember the one fad diet that everyone was selling and everyone was trying. Nutra??????Weight???? something something. I can't remember the name. It was a powder drink ;mix and probably some supplements. Going off caffeine and sugar all at once was the worst headache every time I tried one of those type of diets. It wasn't for the cleanse, I was interested in the weight loss. I have never had any intention of giving up chocolate.
I haven't done anything like that in many years. I try to eat healthy and have a healthier image of what we're really supposed to look like. Oh, I just remembered the Woman's World vegetable soup diet. Ugh.

I do like the idea of a cleanse. Not that I expect it to get rid of everything toxic in my body, but a "wash" would be nice. I know there are herbs to help with this, but it's a regimen, not a "all at once" thing. Hope to hear something positive and possible.

Pam, I agree, that picture makes me hungry.

Yuck, maple syrup and lemon juice? Yuck. I have never tried a detox diet and probably never will. I would hate to have a mostly-liquid diet in any case. How exactly are you supposed to get fiber drinking water? Why give up chewing? I love chewing!

Jennie, the secret to weight loss is as you say: more calories burned than consumed. I don't believe there is an American alive who doesn't know that down deep. We've been bombarded with the food pyramid and food groups and super foods and good fat/bad fat data. We KNOW to eat our vegetables, eat colorful foods, limit fats, eat unprocessed foods, and exercise. Knowing is not doing, alas!

I admit I've always wanted to try a cleanse, not necessarily for weight loss but bc of the "Feel good" claims. I haven't yet and probably won't..... But if I do and have miraculous results I will be sure to let you all know.

Hey Zak,

The photos were just awesome, and I, too certainly congratulate you, and more importantly for another precious baby in the family. I think it will be your greatest accomplishment as a couple! Tell Aly I'm very excited for you both.

Not to blow my own horn, but at one time I was an avid rock climber. In my day, 80's and 90's, I lived in Albany NY. In New Paltz (south of Albany 1/2 way to Manhattan) are the world famous Shawangunk Cliffs ,which you may know about. I began climbing there first and shortly mastered10 rated face climb with nothing more than a few nubbins for finger tips and my rubber climbing shoes. And you're right, women have a a lower center of gravity and use our legs rather than upper body strength like men. My very first climb was a 5.7 crack climb, aptly named "Ken's Crack." What a thrill! My one-time instructor was yelling all over, she did Ken's Crack on her 1st climb!

If you ever get to the 50 high peaks of the Adirondacks in upstate area you'll find some awesome multi-pitched high exposure climbs. No doubt, I've done my share of "air time," coming off the rock and swinging out 500 ft above ground! Pretty wild!

Well, this is about you guys, not me. It's just known in the family some of the wild adventures I've had. I wish you the very best on future climbs!!!

Zac.....my memories regarding silo's as a young person were not quite as exciting as your new adventure in silo climbing. When I entered a silo it was with caution, a pitchfork and a 22 caliber in the event that a varmint decided to cross my path and interfere with my chores.
Congratulations to you and Aly as you will make great parents.
Love Uncle Mick
