I actually saw this movie opening weekend. I only just now decided to review it when I realized that people were still going to see it. STOP NOW!! DON’T DO IT!!
This is a public service announcement.
Cop Out is the worst movie I have ever seen (and you all know I have seen a LOT of movies.) I stuck it out all the way through to the end, hoping and praying that it would somehow redeem itself in the end. It didn’t. It got worse. There were points I didn’t think that was possible. And they proved me wrong. Over and over and over again.
It’s SUPPOSED to be a spoof. Apparently no one told the director. Or actors. They seem to think it’s a police-buddy-comedy. It’s not funny. That doesn’t mean I didn’t laugh. Sure there are funny jokes, the occasion “bit” that is amusing. And I still laugh at fart jokes. And words like condominium and titillate. I can totally appreciate teenage boy humor. Even they hated this movie. The best I can say is that it was like a string of SNL skits, not the good ones. It just didn’t work.
Bruce Willis looks like he’s going to fire his agent about halfway through. He should. WTH is he doing in this crap?! Sure, he made Die Hard 4 a couple of years ago, but still. There’s no need for this. I was embarrassed for him as I was sitting in that theater, watching him walk through a film he obviously did not want to be in. Cocky smirks and asides to the camera have always been part of his charm, now they just seem to be pleas for help!
Tracy Morgan is Tracy Morgan. Exactly as is. If you’re a big fan… what am I talking about? He’s barely tolerable on 30 Rock. And that’s only because his role is minimal and supportive. This was like a Tracy Morgan vehicle. A vehicle with no brakes and a sticky accelerator, better known as a death trap. I just hope it’s first victim isn’t Bruce’s career!!
There are other people in this movie, most of whom are unknown and should be grateful as they can safely put this movie in the gone and forgotten pile. Hopefully it won’t be held against them in the future.
My overall review: OMG please tell everyone you know NOT TO SEE THIS! I wouldn’t wish this movie on my worst enemy.

Tiffany, can you tell us how you really feel?
Thanks for the advice – I think I would have bypassed this one anyway, but I WILL warn others!
Hey! I like Tracy Morgan on 30 Rock. I have always liked Bruce Willis. I’m sorry he’s in a stinker!
Ann, imagine a whole movie of Tracy Morgan doing schtick. I thought I liked Tracy Morgan too. Now I can barely watch 30 Rock and it’s one of my faves!!
Oh, no, Tiffany, I couldn’t stand a whole movie of Tracy Morgan’s act. The beauty of 30 Rock is the quick jokes and moving from one character to another. More than 2 minutes at a time would be too much.
Rest assured, i won’t be seeing this movie. I trust your judgment Tiffany!
He’s barely tolerable on 30 Rock.

I do not like Tracy Morgan either. He had some moments on SNL, but there weren’t enough of them. I liked him best in the Longest Yard. I wish he wasn’t on 30 Rock. He’s the only member of the cast I think shouldn’t be there.
I like Bruce Willis. What a shame.
As always, thanks Tiffany.
I kinda love Tracy Morgan (on 30 Rock and on my favorite skit of his when he was on SNL, Brian Fellow Safari Planet) but I can absolutely see that a whole movie of Tracy Morgan and his schtick would be very tiresome. I wasn’t in any danger of seeing this film, but still appreciate you taking one for the team.
“Brian Fellow is not an accredited zoologist, nor does he hold an advanced degree in any of the environmental sciences. He is simply an enthusiastic young man with a sixth grade education and an abiding love for all of God’s creatures. Share his love, tonight on.. BRIAN FELLOW’S SAFARI PLANET!”
