Prevention is better than cure, and in order to protect your skin from unnecessary damage, it is important for you to minimize sun exposure and use the right moisturizing products. Unfortunately, getting a few wrinkles is inevitable, and as you age they are simply par for the course.
Having said this, there are a number of very effective techniques for getting rid of or at least reducing the amount of wrinkles that you have. The following are five simple yet very effective ways to get rid of wrinkles and keep your skin smooth and youthful.
1. Care for your skin internally
Before you invest in an expensive anti-aging cream, take a moment to consider what you are putting into your body. If you want to keep your skin free of wrinkles, then things like cigarettes or excessive alcohol must be avoided. Taking vitamin supplements also helps to promote smooth wrinkle-free skin. The most important vitamins for your skin are vitamin A, B, C and E, along with iron, calcium and magnesium. A good multivitamin will usually contain all of the above. Insufficient water intake can also cause premature aging of the skin, so make sure you are staying hydrated throughout the day.
2. Exfoliate
This is one beauty secret that should not be overlooked. Exfoliating works by removing layers of dead skin, which will help your skin look and feel smoother. If you want to go the natural route, you can use a small amount of granulated sugar and water to get the job done. Be sure to moisturize afterwards.
3. Always use sunscreen
Exposure to UV rays is one of the primary causes of wrinkles. Tanning, whether outdoors or in a tanning bed should be avoided at all costs. When you know you are going to be out in the sun, make sure you use a sunscreen with a high SPF. To protect your skin on a daily basis, use a moisturizer that contains a UV filter or sunscreen.
4. Tighten your skin with caffeine
Caffeine is known to have a tightening effect on the skin, particularly the skin around your eyes where those irritating crow’s feet tend to show up. You can find skin products containing caffeine, but if you prefer a more natural (and cheaper) approach, then dabbing a strong caffeinated tea around your eyes in the morning will work just as well. Be sure to cool it off first and always avoid direct eye contact.
5. Get your exercise
As if you needed another reason to exercise, getting regular exercise, at least 30-45 minutes every day, is also known to prevent and reduce wrinkles. It works by increasing your blood flow and circulation, while also helping your body flush out toxins and eliminate waste. If you don’t have time to get 30 minutes of exercise in every day (although you really should), facial massages can also increase the blood flow and circulation, thus reducing your wrinkles.
By following these five tips and maintaining a healthy, active lifestyle, you will be well on your way to a beautiful and wrinkle free complexion.

A friend made a sugar scrub for Christmas presents this year. I love mine. It is a great exfoliant.
Still waiting for that miracle cream that will wipe away twenty years.
I used to work part time and Bath and Body Works. Such a fun job, I can’t tell you!!!! Anyway….exfoliate was like the battle cry of the company. You can’t moisturize dead skin. I went to a dermatologist that also said to drink lots and lots of water….hydrate was her big thing. I am waiting for that miracle cream that will wipe away POUNDS!!!!!!!! LOL LOL
Kmom2, LOL. I think working at Bath and Body Works would be a dangerous job if you know what I mean. I think I’d probably take home half the store every week on payday!

I loved the tip about dabbing strong caffeinated tea around your eyes in the morning. I will SO be trying that. I wonder if it helps with puffiness too?
I am also interested in using tea. Anyone know what brand is considered strong caffeinated?
Kmom2, I’ll take some of that cream too.
I’ve heard of tea bags helping with puffiness (I’m not sure if it makes a difference what kind?) but not actually tightening the skin. I will SO try this. GeeWhiz, I don’t know about brands, but I think I’ll try Earl Grey – that always seems pretty highly caffeinated to me.
