Philip Welch kicked a 22-yard field goal in the second overtime and the Wisconsin football team defeated Fresno State 34-31 in Madison.
They played poorly. I hope this is not how the season will go.
Go Badgers!!
We’re huge Michigan Wolverine fans here at our house! I prefer college football over professional.
Crazy surprise ending to their game yesterday against Notre Dame! LET’S GO BLUE!
Well the Packers play the Bears tonight. My husband is already giving me grief.
Since I am a huge Chicago Bears fan and my wife is a huge Packer fan, tonight could be interesting. She will likely watch the game in the other room and give me comments thru the wall. I, on the other hand, will either be whooping it up or completely mute. Have a great Football Sunday. Go Bears!!!
Here are my picks for today:
Atlanta over Miami by 4.5
Baltimore over Kansas City by 13.5-
Philly over Carolina by 1.5
Denver gets 4.5 over Cincy
Cleveland gets 4.5 over Minnesota ( I just can never bring myself to pick Minnesota)
Houston over NY Jets by 5.5
Indy over Jacksonville by 7.5
Dallas over Tampa by 6.5
Arizona over San Francisco by 6.5
NY Giants over Washington by 6.5
St. Louis gets 8.5 over Seattle
Green Bay over Chicago by 3.5
New England over Buffalo by 10.5
San Diego over Oakland by 9.5
Let’s see how I do. I just noticed I picked quite a few favorites. 20 people in the pool. Of course this is just for fun with no money involved.
Pam, Well you are right about the Eagles over Carolina…guess no one anticipate just HOW MUCH step they would win by today.
I was shocked and pleasantly surprised. I’m still a bit perturbed by the Eagles signing Vick but I can get over it if they keep playing like this.
It wouldn’t be an Eagle’s Season if McNabb didn’t get hurt and already, game 1, he had to step out because of injury. This is another reason the Vick acquisition may have been a good thing. We need to be at least 2 quarterbacks deep and not have to depend on McNabb’s health. For the past few seasons, that has been one very unpredictable factor.
How about that ending to the Denver / Cincy game?
Well I am out of the pool and right now the Packers are struggling, in my eyes. But I LOVE FOOTBALL!
Pam,
Regis Philburn picked Green Bay to be his comeback team for this season. From what I can gather,he has made some good picks. lol, Go Packers!
Thanks Paula. I am not sure how much Regis knows about Football. We will see.
I love football also !!! My poor husband has to put up with me:) I am PA girl so my favorites are the Pittsburgh Steelers, Penn State and Pitt for college. I was in heaven last week with all the games.
Alright Pack, settle down. Get your defense in order and we will be ok.
Poor Jeff Reed. I think he wants to kick HIMSELF after missing two today.
Well we lost but my husband was sure happy Jeff Reed missed those field goals. He is a big Bear fan
I would like to kick Jeff Reed. He needs to bring the bad boy back. lol
Jeff looked like he was about to cry on the sideline. I hope the bad boy is back next weekend, too Paula. It’s very rare that Reed miss a goal. What a fluke to miss two today.
Pam, Jeff gave the Bears the win today.
I didn’t get to watch the game today because I was working. I am reading all the games now and watching the dallas / new york game. Go Giants !!! I don’t like Dallas…
Diane, that was a good game, wasn’t it? Poor Dallas lost in their new trillion dollar stadium. Ha!
I am a very casual fan, but definitely root for Penn State (my dad’s alma mater). I sort of root for the 49′ers and Raiders (local teams). I mainly root for the Raiders because they have been bad for so long (I have a soft spot for underdogs).
Does anyone here have a fantasy NFL team? This is my first year to play, and I am obsessed. I don’t even really like the NFL. I am in a league with a bunch of my sorority sisters from college.
Cause I am a true fan and not wishy washy…………………grrrrrrrrrrr they gave that game away …not a happy camper:)
I agree Diane. They gave the last 2 away. Pitt, Penn State, and the Penguins lost also. Bad weekend in Pittsburgh.
It was fun to watch my teams do well this weekend . Last weekend was a disaster(: The one thing I am really enjoying this year both in college and pro games are some of the last minute combacks. Makes for some exciting football . Paula wanted to know if you live in Pa?
Diane, Yes, Pittsburgh native. And you? I enjoyed the Steelers game but they were making me nervous towards the end.
Me too!!!!! That is so awesome
Grew up in the South Hills , for the most part. I agree about the game but I was so whooped from work on Sunday I only made it to the first part of the 3rd quarter and dozed off. One day we will need to find a way to exchange email addresses so if I come into town for a game maybe we can meet. The only game I could get tickets for with the crew I usually go with was the Green Bay game which is not a good time of the year for me . Love a having a Steeler fan on a wonderful site like this.
Diane
Diane and Paula, I bleed black & gold, too!
Go Steelers!
Great ! Go Steelers! Erin how are the Eagles doing? I really haven’t kept up. If there is any chance for a turnpike bowl the Steelers need to settle down.
The Eagles are 2-1. That had a bye week last week so we play this week against the Bucs. It will be interesting to see how they play. They are in 2nd place in the division. The Giants are 4-0 and ahead of us.
Let’s go Birds!
Erin I hope the Eagles win today also. I am still holding out for a PA superbowl one day. Of course you know I will be rooting for the Steelers if that happens:)
We are playing the Lions today I just want to see a solid game by Pittsburgh on offense and defense………..We can’t afford any more losses.
The Packers and the Bears have a bye today so it will be quieter in our house. Wisconsin lost yesterday. (: Maybe next week.
What a great game! McNabb played well. Hopefully we’ll see more of this in the weeks to come! NY won today so we’re still in 2nd place. Oh well, it’s only the 4th week of the season.
I so disapointed in yesterday’s game I give them a C report card. Again it was another exciting week with some late comebacks which i always love! Glad to see Patriots, Titans and Ravens lose….hehehehehe. Erin they did a good job with McNabb yesterday I hope he stays away from injuries for the rest of the year.
Always glad to see the Patriots lose!
Very proud of the Colts! Go Horse!
I can see nobody is feeling too bad about the Patriots losing.
With the Red Sox also losing their series (and chances to go further in the playoffs), the good sports fans of Boston apparently feel the world has come to an end.
As Deadspin.com put it in their article about the ‘tragedy’:
Sorry, Boston, you might actually go one whole year without one of your sports franchises winning the championship. Boo-hoo!
Congrats to those who teams did well over the weekend!
It was my weekend to work again only got to watch the late games (: Erin it was tough to see the Eagles lose to the Raiders. It was nice to see Ben beat the Browns 10 straight but we still have a long way to go in improving our game in all areas. Next weekend will be interesting, we need to bring our A game to this one. Needless to say I was happy the Bengals and Ravens lost that always helps in the divison race. It is still an interesting season for me with the other teams , some are doing so well this year which is nice to see. The Saints, Broncos and Vikings are all undefeated it will be interesting how long they can keep the streak up.
Theresa , I need some love here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Had to work a late shift today but was the game as bad as I read when I got home?
xxxooo
a true steeler fan
You got it Diane!
It really wasn’t as bad as it seemed. The unfortunate part is Ben said in post-game interviews that he felt something “wasn’t right” at the beginning of the game and that they did stuff they normally wouldn’t do and the stuff they normally would do, they didn’t. That probably set the tone right there. When the QB felt out of sorts, that’s not good. Standing around waiting to get sacked didn’t help Ben either.
When Tomlin says that if it takes putting himself in in the kick return…it wasn’t a pretty loss.
But, they regroup and focus on the Chiefs.
Go Steelers!!
Sounds like the Steelers had a bad loss. Sorry to hear about that.
Pam, etc. Congrats on the Packers win. That was great. Any day the Cowboys lose is a good day, but I am glad the Packers were the one to do it!
