Maj Hasan was shot multiple times and was taken into custody, ending the shooting rampage Thursday afternoon. He is in stable condition, the hospital commander at the base said Friday.
Twenty-eight people are still hospitalized and in stable condition, according to Col. John Rossi, deputy commanding general at Fort Hood. Hasan is the sole suspect in the shootings, Rossi said at a news conference Friday morning.
Fort Hood is the Army’s largest U.S. post, with about 40,000 troops stationed there. The fort is home to the Warrior Combat Stress Reset Program, which helps soldiers returning from war with combat stress and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

My condolences to the families of the victims and the slain. How many of these victims served under fire in our wars and were happy to return home. The stress on our men and women in uniform is just so horrific right now.
I just read a short of bio of each of the victims in the NY Times. I was struck by how diverse and accomplished they were. Just heart-breaking when one considers the pain that their family, friends and colleagues are in now.
Ann, I agree, the stress on those serving is something I really cannot comprehend.
My thoughts are with everyone who is in pain because of the shooting. I plan to try and watch the memorial service on Tuesday. I wonder if it will be live streamed?
Peace…..
