The let’s get together and give each other a bunch of awards to celebrate how awesome we are spectacle continued on Sunday night with the Grammy Awards. Bruce Springsteen, Kings of Leon, Taylor Swift and Stephen Colbert all won awards, so I am a happy girl. Lady Gaga and Beyonce also won multiple awards – good for them. They both had great years.
As I wasn’t going to commit three hours to actually watching the show, however, I did what any 21st century west coast girl does — I googled “Grammy Awards 2010.” I found it kind of interesting that most of the initial links that came up were about Grammy fashion (specifically faux pas) rather than award nominees and winners.
Never let it be said that I don’t have an opinion on fashion, even though the majority of my wardrobe comes from the Gap and Macy’s clearance. So here are my choices for best and worst dressed women. (Sorry. I couldn’t really muster up enough interest to rate the men. I was mostly glad when it appeared they had bothered to take a bath and run a comb through their hair before hitting the carpet.) Here is one gallery of photos (as I mentioned there are many out there!)
Best: Carrie Underwood. Elegant and so pretty. The asymmetrical straps made the dress a little edgier and less of a safe selection.
Best Runner Ups: Kathy Griffin (I want her body!) and Niecy Nash (for showing even if you have a little bit more to work with you can look gorgeous).
Worst: Britney Spears. Sigh. I am starting to worry about our Britney again.
Worst Runner-ups: Pink and Fergie. Not because they had the worst dresses (there were many more hideous concoctions, but they were worn by women I had never heard of –Nadeea???). I also didn’t bother with Lady Gaga because she is clearly trying to do something different with her fashion choices. It’s different all right…No, I chose these two because they both scowled in the pictures that were taken of them. This seems to be a perpectual “look” for Miss Pink, and I consider it a real turn-off.
What were your choices for best and worst?

I will start with the worst!! I agree Britney Spears, Neko Case,(OMG)Shawn Colvin, Imogen Heap (OMG) Nicole (Snooki) Polizzi, Malin Akerman, Tia Carrere, Lady Gaga (OMG) ha ha
The Best: Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, Mary J Blige, Toni Braxton, Kathy Griffin, Kaley Cuoco, Carrie Ann Inaba,
Sorry I cheated!!! http://wonderwall.msn.com/music/2010-grammy-awards-red-carpet-6478.gallery/?gt1=28135
Britney Spears. What the heck. Oh My. I will have to look at the rest later but I thought I would just drop by and leave my opinion on Britney’s outfit. I am not a fashion plate, but just wow! This looks more like an outfit someone might choose for the MTV awards.
Lady Gaga. Sigh. For someone who has actual talent (though not really my thing) shes turning herself into a joke and making herself cornball fodder in the process. What WAS that? It looked like a 5th grade science project gone wrong. And the spikey prop? Horrific.
Lady Gaga is growing on me. Her crazy space-like dress was Armani! LMAO!
I’m worried about Brittney, too. She’s a mess. Beyonce’s dress was total yuck. Pink – ugh, beyond yuck. Nicole Polizzi – WTF? Adam Lambert, J-Lo, Shawn Colvin??? Ugh.
Taylor Swift – classy. Loved Carrie Underwood’s dress AND Jennifer Hudson’s.
Just once, I want to be able to wear Pink’s performance outfit, just because I have the body to rock it! HA
Paula,
You and me both. LOL
I feel I must make a comment about Lady Gaga and her fashion choices. She considers herself to be a perfomance artist, not just a singer. Her fashion is part of the persona of Lady Gaga. If you look closely at her outfits, they are incredibly beautiful works of art. She was without a doubt my favorite on the red carpet. The worst is Britney, she used to get it, but she just doesn’t any more!
I don’t know about you all but I didn’t like Beyonce’s outfit towards the end of the evening. It looked like she robbed a medieval armor store and it made her look chunky.
Did anyone else notice that in the music industry, more women have normal, not anorexic looking bodies?
That’s Britteny? She looks old and worn out.
Taylor Swift’s was my favorite. Lady Gaga always looks freaky. Compared to some of her other get-ups, I think the spaceoutfit was kind of neat-looking. It does, however, make me think of Epcot World.
