PG for some scary images, brief mild language and sequences of intense action
I took my 8 and 5 year olds to see this, we caught the 3D version. Because if it’s in 3D, it’s probably for a very good reason. This one is because the flying scenes are AMAZING! They give Avatar a run for it’s money! And it’s ANIMATED. Way to go, Dreamworks!!
As you can tell, we loved it. Really cute story. Funny. Action-packed. Visually stunning. What they can do with computer animation these days just totally blows my mind!
There are a few “scary” sequences that younger or more skittish children might find frightening. My 5 year old has watched all The Mummy movies repeatedly, she’s not easily spooked. So she’s not the best gauge for what scares the average Kindergartner. However, I talked to one of my friends who said it turned out to be a little too scary for her 4 year old. So I say, know your kid and judge accordingly. Like I need to tell people that!
Negatives? Uhm… nope. Not a one. Pixar is going to have to step up their game! Speaking of which, Toy Story 3 is coming out in June!!! In 3D, of course! I am near tears with excitement!
My overall review: Go see it in theaters, the 3D is worth every penny! Phenomenal!

I’ve really been surprised by how much positive buzz I’ve heard about this movie. In the commercials I’ve seen it doesn’t seem like anything special, but I’ve heard so many good things about it I’m actually interested in seeing it, even though I don’t have a kid to see it with.
Thanks for the review!
I agree! I loved this movie! We went and saw it a second time! Dreamworks has definitely stepped up their game! As far as it being scary, we took Zander, who is two, and he wasn’t scared. I guess it could be scary in certain parts. Just know your kid. I can’t wait for it to come out on blu-ray!
Tiffany, I agree! I saw this today and loved it. It was such a great kid’s movie, I enjoyed it a lot, We didn’t see it in 3d, that would have been too much for mine. This one was just scary enough. Even w/o the 3d, the movie looked so good.
Can’t say enough good things about it. We’ll be buying it when it’s out.
Thanks Tiffany.
Well, you guys have me sold. I don’t that I will make it to the theatre, but it definitely sounds worth a Netflix rent.
Tiffany, I love the way you give moms such solid advice on what to anticipate before they bring their kids to the movies. Really valuable to know ahead of time.
It does look good- I’m thinking of taking our 6 yr old this weekend
I believe my 7 year old nephew saw this movie last week. I will have to ask him what he thought. Not something I would probably choose to spend my time watching but I am glad that there is a variety of good movies out there for the young ones.
Both prs of Grands took my 3′s & 5′s yesterday and they all loved the movie, even the Grands. I do agree that you need to gauge your own child’s level of dealing with scary things prior to allowing them to see such things. That being said, my 5′s are very advanced and both are like little mom’s with the 3′s trying to teach them everything they learn so as a by product the 3′s are advanced also.
The grands took them shopping after the movie and each one came bouncing in with a stuffed dragon…..big, large, gigantic, did I mention BIGGGG dragons!!!!!! Those Grands, whata gonna do with em!
Miss you Tiffany!.
Looking forward to your next review.
