Katy Hall. Katy Hall. I am (almost) starting to feel sorry for you. Well, not really, but it sounds good to say that. You will remember the young Ms. Hall from her recent HuffPost piece “Katy Hall: Stay Off My Beach.” Ok, truth be told, that was IW’s take on Katy’s article, but it certainly described the tone of Ms. Hall’s entitled reaction to outsiders (i.e., Kate Gosselin and her kids) visiting upper crust Bald Head Island where the landed gentry, such as the Hall family, have a second (third, fourth?) home.
I had just about forgotten the name Katy Hall. That was until my morning radio DJ read a rather funny response (note: mild profanity is contained in the link) musician John Mayer wrote in reaction to a story the Huffington Post published this week that alleged Mayer and Jennifer Aniston were once again a couple. Let’s just say the HuffPost story had a LOT of holes in it and Mayer was none too pleased to be the victim of their shoddy journalism. Who do you think the writer of the HuffPost piece was? Why our very own Katy Hall!!! And remember, she is also the Entertainment Editor, so she must have approved her own piece! You can read the original item here, if you are so inclined. It’s funny just to spot how many “Updates” Katy has had to post to the piece since yesterday.
I am the first to admit that John Mayer can be a jerk. He would probably agree with that statement. He is also a pretty funny, however:
“Huffington Post, this is reporting? How do you pay your writers now, in Silly Bandz? Do you meet your sources in a malt shoppe? This is equal parts fabricated, cobbled together and misleading.”
And how about this. Pretty spot on, in my opinion:
“The reason I’m calling you out instead of all the other magazines that make stories up out of thin air is that In Touch and Star Magazine aren’t concurrently writing pieces about Pat Tillman or WikiLeaks. Those other rags know who they are, and even if they’re obnoxious, I’d rather have to live with them because they (and the rest of the world) know where they stand, which doesn’t make them one tenth as dangerous as you are.”
So there you have it. The latest installment of the “Katy Hall Sucks at Her Job Chronicles.” I will be retiring from the Sport of making fun of Katy Hall after this article (see that’s why we puts this in Sports). It’s just too easy.

No, Anya, we will not let you retire!
Do you think the Katy’s defenders will assume this is a literary criticism again? LMAO
Ann, to be fair, it’s always better to go out on top.
LMAO I can not stand John Mayer and it bugs me when he has a song I like LOL but this is funny. The one thing you have to say about John is that he speaks his mind and usually speaks the truth even when he shouldn’t. This time his sharp tongue had a purpose.
Great post Anya as always.
I can’t stand him either and I really can’t stand his songs but he can be funny at times.
I actually don’t know John Mayer. I think I’ve heard his songs but they must not of made that big of an impression on me and I love music. You got to hand it to the guy for standing up and telling it like it is. Gee if the “reporter” fabricated this story is it possible that she might have highly fabricated the story on Kate. Maybe the location was right but the rest of it? Not so much.
Would just like to say that “Your Body is a Wonderland” started playing on the radio just after I clicked on this article! Nice that it had it’s own soundtrack!
While I think that John Mayer comes across as a jerk, he also seems to have a wicked sense of humor. I’ll never forget seeing pictures of him from a cruise dressed in the Borat bathing suit because he lost a bet! I’ve also heard from friends that his concerts are incredible and hilarious. I don’t ever plan on finding out because I really can’t stand his music (I usually change the station when his songs come on). But seems like the guy isn’t all bad.
This has pretty much nothing to do with the article. Except maybe him calling out Hall like that is another point in his favor!
Lol, Tiffany!
The Huffington Post needs to have a little discussion with a certain reporter before it turns into nothing more than another total rag paper. First the writer isn’t a good writer to begin with and that piece on Kate Gosselin was not only slanderous it was so poorly written and went against all the rules and ethics and believe it or not there is some ethics involved. Sorry but in my opinion two strikes and you’re out and that reporter should be looking for another job if the Huffington has any credibility at all. After John Mayers obvious anger and it was very justified this reporter should be looking for another job immediately. Maybe a paper like the Enquirer or the Star would be more fitting for her style of writing and poor trash.
Lexxi, I agree. I am not familiar w/the Huffington Post beyond whatever Gosselin articles have appeared there. However, Katy Hall being the Entertainment Editor kind of says it all. How on earth did that happen when her writing is so poor?
If there are any Jon Mayer fans reading here, you will also want to check out one of IW’s past articles, Chubby Married Cougar Needs Hug. It’s a very sweet and fun story of one friend helping another friend (a die-hard Mayer fan) get on-stage w/him. There’s a video of her getting on stage and she is so excited to be there.
Great article Anya. You crack me up.
Thanks Anya. That was my giggle of the day! I agree with Mayer, either your a tabloid or a newspaper…pick one. I’m the odd woman out, I like his songs. I’m glad he’s not my ex-boyfriend though(or am I?)
Momsby, I am glad you enjoyed it.
Lily, thanks for linking to the Chubby Cougar story. That still puts a smile on my face. Shows a nice side of Mayer too.

Has Kate Major’s position ever been filled? Hmmm.
