Jon Gosselin and TLC Kiss and Make-up

Jon Gosselin and TLC Kiss and Make-up

It appears our long national nightmare is over – Jon Gosselin and TLC have settled the lawsuit the network brought against him.

Radaronline.com was the first to report that Gosselin and TLC have apparently settled their differences. Interesting statements were released from both parties:

“TLC has reached a settlement with Jon Gosselin and will be undertaking procedural steps to conclude the litigation. All terms of the settlement are confidential. The whole Gosselin family remain under contract with TLC.” — TLC in a statement released today

“Sometimes litigants that kiss and make-up find their relationship is better the second time around. As Jon’s attorney I truly hope that this new adventure for TLC and the Gosselins is a much more joyful journey.” – Mark Heller, attorney for Jon Gosselin

So what do you think is going to happen next? Will we see the kids back on TV in time for Kate’s new spring show or do you think TLC will be cautious and proceed more slowly?

  1. So what do you think is going to happen next? Will we see the kids back on TV in time for Kate’s new spring show or do you think TLC will be cautious and proceed more slowly?

i think tlc has a plan in place already. i think they were smart enough to know what jon was made of and when/why he would fold. think that has been why we haven’t heard what kid of show they are planning for kate…b/c it was being planned to be for all of them and they were waiting til it was *official*.

  2. “So what do you think is going to happen next?”

Gwopers, Jodi, Kevin and Julie are going to throw real hissy fits….which by the way they are. lol Took a peek over there (because that is all I can stomach) and they are now writing him heartfelt letters to try and change his mind.

Kimmie, I think you are right that they had a plan for this all along. They knew he would cave because he won’t take a normal 9 to 5 job and he needs money to support the kids. I just hope that the time we have to see him on the show is kept at a bare minimum.

  3. I think I agree with Kimmie, TLC has been waiting for Jon to cave. Funny how Heller has no trouble contadicting himself yet again. He does go with the flow, especially since he knew Jon couldn’t pay him.
I really don’t know what to think about the kids being filmed again. I don’t know if the same format will work. I hope we see the kids again, but I’m not sure if it should be weekly. Maybe, they are thinking of specials like they did in the beginning. I wonder if Jon is getting his own show?

    Paula says:
  4. I think this was the plan all along. It falls neatly into place with Kate’s View appearance, the new book, and the end of the school year this spring. I think they will film over the summer up until school starts again. Then they will have another crisis to carry them over until next season when that school year is over. And so it goes…………….

    kimberlee says:
  5. I hope they don’t try to do Kate+8. Not because I think it would be any worse for the kids than the old show, but because I think the general public would not be happy with it, and that could be hurtful to them. Most people only know who they are because of the divorce, and subsequent publicity. If they do a show featuring Kate, and have the kids on sometimes, I think that would be okay.

Now, I hope Jon is not going to be paid just for allowing his kids to be filmed. Then he would be living off his kids. Not that I want to see him on tv, but he should have to do something.
    Maybe work in TLC’s mailroom.

I guess this means the “head” child advocates will be coming out of hiding again. Although, I don’t think Gloria Allred really needs the publicity now, what with Tiger Woods’ girlfriends keeping her busy.

    Kiki says:
  6. I’m sure they have something in the works- interested to see what and how long it takes before we see previews on TLC. I doubt Jon will be included though………

    Samantha@IW says:
  7. Kiki, I hope they don’t do Kate+8 either. It just seems it would be re-hashing issues. Something fresh is needed- I think it’d be great for Kate to move on w/her own show, if the kids happen to pop-up here & there, no biggie, but I think the main “character” should be Kate.
The TLC mail room would be a great start for Jon- totally agree Kiki! Or maybe doing some admin work at a police station, they could help keep him in-line, we could consider it a preventive measure. :-)

I'd rather poke my eye out... says:
  8. What a joke. That’s all I have to say.

    Erin@IW says:
  9. It’s no surprise. I’m not sure what the future will bring, but I can do without Jon on my TV.

    jennie says:
  10. Its tough to see what avenue TLC is going to take. On one hand I think TLC had a very strong lawsuit against Jon and I think they would have won easily. It was stated he did not have the funds for ligation. But I am having a tough time believing that TLC have taken off their gloves yet. In my mind Jon has a lot to prove to TLC, Kate and the children and the fans that followed the show. Don’t get me wrong I am not bashing Jon, I just don’t want to see Kate and the children witness anymore harmful publicity. If Jon does any filming it will be on a limited basis.

If I had a crystal ball and could see the future I see the children being filmed again in the summer months with small updates during the school year. Some how if the new show for Kate was really about trying different jobs or working thru fears I could see small updates with the kids involved in the same show and tying that into their new family lifestyle a smaller scale.

    Diane says:
  11. TLC knew Jon would run out of money and have to settle with them. I think TLC had a plan all along and was just waiting for Jon to be desperate enough.

I do not want to see Jon on TV but a show with just Kate and occasional updates on the kids would be good. The part that disgusts me is Jon will most likely be earning money everytime the kids are filmed, he needs to get a job or write a book, do something to earn his own money instead of living off his kids.

    stxmom says:
  12. Looks like TLC doesn’t want him on tv either.

    http://www.radaronline.com/exclusives/2010/02/exclusive-jon-gosselin-wont-be-back-tlc

I just don’t want him to feel he’s gotten away with something. I hope they’re not actually paying him to do nothing, but maybe just forgiving what they were suing for in the first place. I wonder if he’ll be able to keep his mouth shut?

    Kiki says:
  13. It’s not a surprise to me either.
There have been some predictions that TLC was stringing Kate along until the lawsuit was over, then they’d “throw her under the bus.” That would surprise me.

    Ann@IW says:
  14. Listen? Do you hear Aunt Jodi wailing? :)

Settling was a smart thing for Jon to do. He forced TLC to take action and never had a chance. He gained nothing by this lawsuit, it was a big mistake and caused a lot of damage to his family. It was heartless how he stopped the filming w/no warning and right after helping himself to the funds he wasn’t supposed to touch. Who would have believed him when he used his children in ways that TLC never did? I hope he can learn something and move forward to better things. Maybe a lesson in not believing people like Heller. Jon needs to get his head on straight and do something productive.

I read on MSNBC that they may do some specials w/the children but that’s it The focus is supposed to be on Kate’s show. I look forward to the specials and seeing the kids again.

Ann, I have read that too. I don’t believe it a bit. Kate is a commodity and popular in her own right. Jon, well, he really dug himself in deep in only thinking about himself. I don’t think Kate had much to do w/the lawsuit other than to stand by and watch Jon make a mess of things.

    Lily@IW says:
  15. Didn’t Jon want off the show before? Way back when he first sat down with Kate for their “big” discussion about why he was unhappy? Remember? He wanted off and she wanted it to continue?

    kimberlee says:
  16. Kate fine; but no more filming of the kids please. Enough is enough for them.

    whatabouthekids says:
  17. Kimberlee, Jon was reluctant to sign another contract because that was during the time when he got caught cheating with the school teacher, Deanne Hummel. He was upset that he couldn’t go out to play without the paparazzi following him. Apparently they hadn’t signed a new contract yet because Kate said “we’ll see”, when asked if they wanted to come back. She wanted to but Jon was pouting. Eventually he signed it and whether he wanted to or not, he did sign it.

    jan says:
  18. I agree that the show should not pay Jon one DIME if he’s not on it – and moreover, anything that is made that includes the kids should put a fat share into their accounts if they aren’t getting paid.
I think Kate needs to stand on her own for better or worse, and keep the kids to the odd holiday or update special. The whole reality show with the children as it was with 40 some episodes in 12 months is not going to work. I can live without seeing the kids weekly and can live without seeing Jon, pretty much forever.

    SadStateofAffairs says:
  19. Not that I want to see him on tv, but he should have to do something.
Maybe work in TLC’s mailroom. KiKi

KiKi…THANK YOU FOR THAT MUCH NEEDED LAUGH OUT LOUD!! I just got out of the hospital 2 days ago and have desperately needed a laugh like that one! :)

I agree, I DO NOT WANT TO SEE JON ON TV!!!Just seeing him and listening to him ramble about “missing his 20’s because of kids” sickens me. Not to harp on my medical issues; but since I am fighting a terminal illness day after day…sometimes minute by minute…I’d like to share with you the way that my husband has faced the ultimate adversity… MY husband spent “his 20’s” taking care of our two babies while I was fighting for my life receiving liver transplants, etc., etc….and it continues on to this day!

Not once has he complained (we’re now 39 and married 18 yrs.) and I know for a fact that neither one of us would want to change things even if given the option because through my illness, we have been so blessed. As Kate said one time..”if you look hard enough, you CAN see the positive in EVERYTHING”..and she is right about that…Our marriage has been strengthened, our kids are amazingly strong in their character, morals and faith and while it has been a rollercoaster of a ride, we have been reminded not to take ONE SECOND for granted because none of us are guaranteed tomorrow.

ALL OF THE ABOVE is what frustrates me about this entire situation with Jon! I don’t know that I could ever watch Jon again because he sickens me for one…and secondly because he lies out of both sides of his mouth… His antics that will forever stick out in my mind, that also broke my heart, is when he jerked Mady and Cara’s posters away and then wouldn’t let them participate in the fun at the firehouse JUST BECAUSE THEY MENTIONED LIKING PROJECTS THEY DID WITH MOMMY! For me, that was the straw that broke the camel’s back because it made me think, if he’s on his best behavior in front of a camera, Lord knows what he does when there are no cameras around.

Sorry to have rambled on and on, but it’s just so sad to watch everything unfold from a different perspective. If only he could wake up and realize that not only did God answer their dreams for healthy babies; but that his family has been blessed beyond measure. If only, he had a tiny bit of maturity, perseverance and wisdom (and lets not forget BETTER LEGAL COUNSEL) his precious babies would be in a much better place all the way around…

May you all have a great weekend!!
