Jon Gosselin apparently has been doing some soul searching lately and has made a few changes in his life. Radar Online is featuring one of the changes and it is a gigantic tattoo of a dragon on his back.
“I have planned this tattoo for years now,” Jon told RadarOnline.com in an exclusive interview. “I wanted something that resembled a rebirth or a change in me. The dragon is all encompassing. It has all parts of the zodiac,” Jon tells RadarOnline.com.”
Jon has had two sessions so far at the Never Say Die Tattoo parlor in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania for a total of 14 hours under the ink. Apparently the tattoo is a work in progress and is not finished yet.
Gosselin has also revealed that he has hired a new manager, Canaan Rubin and is now working with a life coach, Sylvia Lafair, to change his life.
I am a little confused by Jon’s statements. Jon states that he has “planned this tattoo for years” and that it “resembles a rebirth”. His new manager states that “This tattoo for Jon marks this turning point in his life, and symbolizes his time of change, and improvement.” Good for you Jon if this is true but have you been planning this tattoo for years or is it signifying a recent intent to improve and change your life for the better?

I am most bothered by the fact it is off-center. Then there is the whole spending a thousand dollars and tons of time when he is unemployed and has 8 kids. I got a new tattoo last Wednesday and it itches like nothing else. Add to that flaking skin, ink leaching out, etc. and Jon will probably be a bit of a mess for a week. It really annoys me that there is always a mention of Kate’s shoes, how much she paid for nails to be done, but a thousand dollar plus tattoo is just glossed over.
I think I read somewhere that it might be off-centered because he covered up previous tattoos.
I am not a fan of tattoos. Personally, I think this one is ugly. Jon has the right to do whatever he wants regarding tattoos but I hope that he keeps it covered up.
I also am of the school of thought that it is better to show people by your actions your “rebirth” than to show them by some picture drawn on your skin that will be covered up the majority of the time.
I want Jon to do well. I really do. But why give this story to RadarOnLine? Or should I say sell?
From the Radar Online article:
Jon also says he is now working with a life coach, Sylvia Lafair, to change his life. “I have just completed Section Two of my Total Leadership Connection program,” Jon told RadarOnline.com. (No, we don’t know what that means either and we’re not sure what he’s leading or connecting to!)
I guess Section Two of his Total Leadership program is “get a giant tattoo.”
Ann
It actually might have been in Section One since he started in over 3 weeks ago. Just a thought. I really don’t have any idea how long those Leadership programs are.
I read where the kids liked it. That is a good thing because that is one very large tattoo to have removed if they did not.

LMAO, that is so funny. I don’t like the tattoo. I don’t want to knock the artist because it might be the pic, but the detailing looks fuzzy. I also don’t care for that dragon’s face (I said that already). I have known people who got tattoos to symbolize something in their life or a big change, but I never believe what comes out of Jon’s mouth. No job, going from girl to girl and all the crap he’s pulled which was not in the best interest of his children. I mean he has pulled some low down dirty tricks. I am glad he’s back in PA and near the kids. That has to be good for them. I always wonder what they thought w/their dad moving away so suddenly.
I have seen the big dragons off-center, but they usually go up onto the shoulder and upper arm.
Erin Kate, congrats on the new tattoo. I hope it looks just the way you wanted. Don’t scratch.
Poor Jon–He is so sad!! He supposedly became a Christian years ago. THAT is the change that makes a difference in a person’s life–IF after accepting the Lord, you LIVE FOR HIM.. Maybe that was all fake on Jon’s part. I certainly haven’t seen him “Living for the Lord” I will continue to pray for him. There is a huge hole on his heart he is trying to fill with women, drugs, and dragons!!! Only God can fill that hole!!
I agree with Lily on the face of the dragon. He looks like he has indigestion.
I have given up guessing that I know what direction Jon is headed in. I could believe in his reform more if we weren’t still getting obviously staged paparazzi shots with him and the kids.
He “might” have his latest girlfriend noted, along with his kids’ birthdates.

If so, that’s pretty tacky. Surely someone he’s known for a few months doesn’t rate a place on the same tat as his kids. There’s room for plenty more underneath her, though.
I find the placement of the tattoo the least objectionable thing about it.
As soon as it was announced that Kate would be doing The View again, I wondered what stunt Jon would pull to get attention. I hope releasing the tattoo photos is the end of it.
The life coach has familiar tones of the time Jon spent w/the Rabbi Shmuley. I doubt he’ll ever admit or be able to accept how selfishly he has acted and the hurtful things he has done. I’m not an optimist on him ever getting it together.
Kiki says….He “might” have his latest girlfriend noted, along with his kids’ birthdates.
Ellen Ross tweeted earlier this evening that it is her name on the tattoo.
Shaking my head.
I really do try not to be judgemental.
But their is something so trailer-trash about tattoos. I try to get past it, but whenver I see a tattoo, all I can see is stupidity.
Seriously? He put his girlfriend’s name in his tattoo?
What bugs me most about this is that it’s pretty strong evidence that he still has a long way to go in terms of gaining maturity and good judgment. I know it’s always easier to make judgments about these things from the outside, but come on. If this relationship lasts (big if), there is plenty of time to commemorate it in a tattoo later. He is still acting like a child, with a child’s impulse control, apparently.
This is just not great advertising for the Total Leadership Conference. She should have insisted that he not do these public stunts whilehe is attending her seminar, and arrangement I suspect is more about getting paid and less about rebirth.
I agree that Jon is trying to fill a hole in his life. It is very sad to me, too.
I think Ellen Ross will someday be having a good laugh that her name is still tattooed on Jon’s back. Unbelievable.
For me talking about Jon’s tattoo is sort of like talking about what Kate is wearing. I don’t really care. I don’t really have an opinion about him getting it or what it looks like or how he spends his money. The only thing I do have an opinion about is that I think it is foolish to put his new girlfriends name on it if that is true.
For me it is not so much about the tattoos but how he associates this tattoo with his “rebirth.” Again, I have nothing against tattoos and I wish Jon only the best. I personally think there are better ways to go about showing that you are making positive changes in your life.
Jon, of course is in charge of his life and has every right to publicize this. I just have a hard time understanding why someone would want to do this.
I believe his girlfriend tweeted on her twitter that her name is on the tattoo.

Really…his new girlfriend’s name is on there? That’s just plain stupid if he got her name on the tattoo.
There is still room on the second scroll, maybe if they break up he will cross her name out and put the next girlfriend under? I don’t mind the tattoo, I can’t say much because I do have them and they are visible. My issue is the money, if he talks about how he can’t get a job and pay the ordered amount of child support, and Hailey is filling a lawsuit against him for money he borrowed from her a tattoo is not the best decision. Basically I agree with everything Jennie said, it really shows his priorities and that despite the lip service he really hasn’t gotten to a place where he is making well reasoned decisions. The placement bugs me because I’m a tiny bit crazy and things have to be centered! and even! This is why I refuse to hang anything on my walls.
Lily, it is just exactly what I hoped it would be! And it doesn’t itch as bad as the last one (much, much smaller this time) so I’ll survive.
There’s a wonderful song, “Show Me”, from “My Fair Lady”. Eliza sings it when she runs into her suitor, Freddy Eynsford(sp?)-Hill, after running out on Professor Higgins after he fails to give her any credit for her success at the ball. Freddy greets Eliza with effusive professions of love & she blasts him with this song, which, IIRR, begins with “Words, words, words, I’m so sick of words. I hear words all day through first from him then from you, is that all you blighters can do?” and ends with, IIRR, ”Don’t wait until wrinkles & lines pop out all over my brow. Show me now!” I think with Jon, no one needs any more professions of how he says he’s changed & finally found the path to enlightenment. He needs to SHOW Kate and his kids that he’s changed and do it privately, not to get tabloid attention. I don’t mean that in the sense that I believe that there is any chance of them ever becoming a couple again, but I meant in the sense that she finally can feel secure in trusting him again to co-parent with her. As far as I’m concerned, those are the only people whose opinions count on this. He’d better get his act together soon because the twins will soon be adolescents and the younger kids are not too far behind them. Teenagers are not nearly so tolerant and forgiving of parental failings as small kids are.

Amen sister!!!
At this very minute, only 2.7% of people taking the poll believe Jon is actually making a change for the better. (75.7 % answer no to the poll and 21.6% answer Jon has no where to go but up.) Quite frankly, IMHO, you’d get more adults answering yes to a poll as to whether they still believe in Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, and the Tooth Fairy.
Erin Kate says…There is still room on the second scroll, maybe if they break up he will cross her name out and put the next girlfriend under?
LOL. Maybe he can get advice on that from someone like Charlie Sheen. I think Charlie has had to deal with that situation a few times…
Pam, I very much agreed with everything you said in post #18. Although I agree with Erin Kate that is tempting to bring up the cost of this (which I would imagine was partially subsidized since I have now heard the name of the tattoo shop multiple times lol), that isn’t my biggest issue. I think there are still some of us rooting for Jon to pull it together and demonstrate a prolonged period of stability. Moving back to PA appeared to be a good sign. This particular action…well for me anyway, it doesn’t seem to demonstrate much other than he wanted a bit ’ol tat on his back!
I think PeggyP’s words are important to remember, however. We all have opinions, but it is really only the opinion of Jon’s children (and to some extent Kate as the children’s mother) that truly matter.
They showed the episode of the Gosselins when they first started out tonight. It made me so sad. They had just moved into the new house and were so excited. It is amazing how quickly they wanted a bigger one. They seemed so happy with each other. They were saying that they might not be able to give their kids things, but they wanted to give them a happy normal childhood. I feel bad for them all. I wonder if they could turn back the clock, would they take their old lives back. I know with such differing personalities, they would probably had problems anyway, but we(and they) will never know.
As far as Jon and his back, I think if he is going to put his girlfriends’ names there, he would be better off with an etch-a-sketch.
Hello IW Friends ~ It’s Jacquelyn…your double liver transplant recipient friend! I am now back in the hospital with a serious problem. My liver (which is my 3rd one) is beginning to fail because the blood is flowing in the opposite direction in the portal vein…one of the main veins of the liver that keep it functioning. During times like these, it would be easy to “give up” or give in to worry, but I just Praise God that He does not give us the spirit of worry or of fear and that He is NOT the author of confusion.
Today is my 5th day back in the hospital here in Dallas, but I got to visit with my husband and our babies (now 15 and 13) today, so ALL IN ALL…it’s been a really good day! I just wish I could’ve gone home with them instead of staying up here.
OK…enough about me…onto the Gosselin Chatter…:)
I just have to add that I don’t have anything against tattoos, either; but I agree with “Mom” and Theresa that it’s very sad that he says he is a “Christian” but is missing the sweetest part of that by trying to fill that “hole” that could bring him so much peace, joy and genuine love, with drinking, girls and dragons.
I will continue to pray for him as well. I am sorry that I didn’t know that the first “Gosselin Special” was on again tonight because I would have enjoyed watching it too. (as there is NOTHING ON THESE HOSPITAL CHANNELS:)) It is incredibly sad, though, how things changed so drastically.
They truly have been given MULTIPLE BLESSINGS and my hope and prayer is that somehow, someway he goes back to being that sweet Daddy that made us fall in love with their beautiful family to begin with. I am so proud of Kate for continuing to be so strong and such a great example to her kids. In my opinion, she will be rewarded for her great choices many times over!!
Love and blessings to you all!!!
LOL at the etch-a-sketch comment, Wendy. I am just shaking my head at the whole thing.
Jacquelyn you have been on our minds. Best of luck with your next medical battle. Stay strong and get well.
Jacquelyn, there you are. I’m sorry to hear you are back in the hospital. Please keep that strong attitude going. Keeping you in my thoughts for a speedy return to your home and family.
PeggyP, Ita and love the My Fair Lady reference.
Hello, hello, hello,
Did you miss me? Betcha did, didn’t ya? My family + my neice & nephew flew to Kissimmiee Fl to meet my parents and to take the children to Disney, SeaWorld, Busch Gardens (Tampa) and of course the grand opening of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios. Alas, no Discovery Cove 4 us,hopefully next time. My husband and nephew are hugh Harry Potter fans. The girls were totally disappointed and disgusted with Cinderella’s castle at the Disney-Magic Kingdom even though my mom and I told them it was just a walk thru, it was such a major let down for all 5 of the girls. Disney should be ashamed of that castle.
It has taken me a while to catch up on all the Gosseling chatter but this dragon tattoo has me spinning. How dare he paint his back with my favorite mythical figure……boo. Oh, well at least he got the ugliest one ever and not Puff the Magic Dragon.
One big question……How many times can this guy reinvent himself? Ok, one more question… When do you think one of these self reinventions will take or stick?
Jacquelyn, so sorry to hear about your hospilitization and your health issues. My best good thoughts and prayers I’m sending you. TV sucks most of the time so nothing lost on that front for you. If you enjoy reading ask one of the nurses, friend, or a family member to get you the book “Miss Julia Speaks Her Mind” by Ann B. Ross. It will totally take you to a laughter place .
My mom now has 2 favorite bumper stickers. This one was parked next to us in Fl. …….What if the hokey pokey is really what its all about………….and the other is …Do not mess in the affairs of Dragons for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup. I’m gonna have to rethink the dragon one since Jon has defamed dragons for me. I’m really ticked at him about this dragon business, not just because of Puff but also because he seems to have glorified the tattoo business to the 8 when Kate has told them never to let anyone color on their bodies.
Welcome back Lindsey! You are Puff too?
It sounds like you had quite the vacation. Sorry about your experience with Cinderella’s castle. I have never been to Disney World but have taken my own kids and relatives to Disneyland so may times I can not count them. I have not visited Disneyland in a long time though.
Glad to have you back!
Yes, on my recently set up blogger account I chose the name Puff after Puff the Magic Dragon, one of my favorite songs and my girls enjoy the TV show called Dragon Tales.
Cinderella’s castle in Fl is just a facade with a tunnel going through taking you from one part of the park to another. So disappointing to millions of little girls over the years. I remember when I was 8 yrs old how disappointed I was. Disney should at least have a dressed up character there for autographs and etc. Some one told me that you can rent rooms overnite for $2500.00 per night in the castle. At this point in time I just am not capable of taking on the national debt.
Well, you can eat in the castle, at Cinderella’s Royal Table, and get your picture taken with Cindy. I have never done this, because apparently it’s quite complicated to get reservations. You have to call in six months to the day before you want to eat there, at exactly 7:00 a.m.
(and possibly hand over your last-born child, I’m a little fuzzy on the details). But it is cheaper than spending the night there.
To me, all of Jon’s behavior in the last year screams “mid-life crisis.” I don’t think you necessarily have to be in your forties to have one, but all this “change for better,” and “finding myself,” and “life counselors” equate to Jon trying to really find himself. I will always wish the best for him, but feel decisions (and deals) made with the media, legal representation, money and girlfriends have been very poor. He really needs to figure out who he is and stay out of the spotlight, be a father for his kids, and move forward with a career/job of some sort. Just my two cents.
I do not find the tatoo attractive but if Jon likes it, good for him. It does seem like a ploy to get his name in the press again. After all, he went to Radar OnLine.
Jacquelyn, I am sorry you are back in the hospital again. Stay strong.
I just had to pop over and post this thought……. Didn’t Jon say, a few years ago, that he regretted getting his tattoos? So he goes and does it again…. BIGGER! Did he actually put his new flavor’s (sorry Ellen, it’s his history not you) name along side his children. I sure hope he finds himself one day. I feel bad for him and his need to continually transform himself. I wonder, did we see Jon on the show or was that a transformation?
