Update- The video from the Jay Leno appearance has been added below.
Kate Gosselin shares the honor of making People’s “25 Most Intriguing” list with the likes of Taylor Swift, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama. According to CNN, Kate Gosselin, who makes People’s “25 Most Intriguing” list as “the mother of all reality stars,” didn’t see as much success this year. Her 10-year marriage to Jon Gosselin unraveled, which was followed by the cancellation of her hit show “Jon & Kate Plus 8.” Kate has pushed forward nonetheless, and appears in People magazine as the quintessential television mom, Carol Brady. To read more about this and see the complete list of People’s most intriguing of 2009, look for the issue on newsstands Friday.
Kate Gosselin is also scheduled to be on as a featured segment on the Jay Leno Show on Friday, December 18, 2009. Gosselin will do the “Ten @ Ten” segment. “The Jay Leno Show” airs at 10 weeknights on NBC.
In other Gosselin related news, Radar Online is reporting that Jon and Kate Gosselin’s divorce will be finalized within 24 hours. It is also being reported that Kate Gosselin is “thrilled” with their arbitrator’s decision of how to divide the couple’s property and money. Apparently Jon has also been ordered not to bring any firearm onto the marital property by a Montgomery County, PA judge.
Jon appears to be having a rough month not only in legal issues but also in issues regarding his love life. Hailey Glassman was photographed kissing celebrity boxing promoter Damon Feldman at the Grey Bar in Pennsylvania Wednesday night while Jon Gosselin was fuming mad inside his car according to Radar Online. While Hailey was inside doing her promotional work Jon was bombarding her with texts from his car trying to get inside and see her. He was messaging her: “I want to talk – I want to talk.” Jon, you do need to talk to someone – but to a good therapist!

I hope the Gosselins have a better year personally and professionally in 2010. I think Kate is officially a celebrity now. I certainly find her intriguing.
I wish Kate the best, especially now that the divorce is final. She will need prayers. The following article is just one instance of why it it scary that he has a gun.
.tmz.com/2009/12/18/jon-gosselin-kate-gosselin-jon-and-kate-plus-8-finances-money-tlc-child-support-lawyer-divorce/
I hope Kate does well professionally in the coming year – I think it will be on her shoulders to keep the kids in their home and the good school they attend.
From TMZ>
We’ve learned under the arbitrator’s award, Jon must make huge child support payments — we’re told 5 figures a month. And here’s the problem. TLC has now shut down Jon’s ability to take outside jobs. The irony — he did himself in.
We’ve also learned Jon was charged every penny of the $235,000 that he withdrew from their joint account. That amount was deducted from his piece of the settlement.
As for Jon’s claim that Kate should be docked for money she withdrew … we’ve learned Jon struck out. The arbitrator determined every penny she withdrew was for the benefit of the kids.
Under the terms of the divorce decree, Kate has primary custody and Jon gets visitation — both Jon and Kate agreed to that in advance. And, they agreed, neither party would get spousal support.
Score a big one for Mark Momjian, Kate’s lawyer.
SO the divorce is final.
According to Radar Online:
Mark Momjian, Kate’s co-counsel tells RadarOnline.com, “Our client will continue to reside with all eight of her children in the former marital home. This was Kate’s primary focus from the very start of the case, and we are very pleased with the final outcome.”
“I am very relieved that our divorce has been finalized, and I look forward to the New Year, focusing on the children,” Kate said in a statement released by her attorneys. “On behalf of myself and my legal team, I want to express my deep appreciation to the Judge and his staff, as well as to the arbitrator, for resolving this case. This has been a challenging transition for all of us, but I am confident that we will move ahead with the important task of restructuring our lives.”
I wish a very happy holiday season to the whole Gosselin family. I hope Jon and Kate can work together to provide a loving, safe home for their children. I wonder if that will happen?
Kate has definitely been vindicated and it appears that she will be the primary custodial parent, which I think is in the kids best interest at this time.
Mark Momjian may be a good lawyer, but he also was given a very good case and Jon and his legal team did nothing to help their own case.
I am interested to see what Kate has in store in 2010. She isn’t perfect, but I think she is a strong and determined woman and I can’t help but admire those qualities.
Like Paula, I do wish peace and happiness for every member of the Gosselin family this holiday season and new year.
Wow, so the divorce is final. Finally the Gosselin’s can move on and hopefully they can all get some peace like Kate wanted. I kind of feel bad for Jon but he made his choices and look where it got him: visitation with his children. How sad for him. 5 figure’s for child support. Ouch!!
Well, I certainly hope the worst is over, but I kinda doubt it is. I hope Kate gets something going so she can take care of the kids, and maintain the house. She’s sure not going to get five figures from him anytime soon.
I’m just sad about the way this has ended. The divorce itself was hard on the kids, and now they have all this drama to hear about in the future. Uggh, it’d be one thing if Jon’s actions only affected him, but they’re going to continue to affect the kids down the line. And it didn’t have to be like this.
I hope Kate does well professionally in the coming year – I think it will be on her shoulders to keep the kids in their home and the good school they attend. ~Paige
Ditto on all that. I am interested to see what her new project is going to be. I know the paps caught her at a restaurant cooking or serving food.
Well, I certainly hope the worst is over, but I kinda doubt it is. ~Kiki
It would be nice if the drama would calm down. But, then I go back to the pic of him w/the gun and wonder if that was such a desperation for attention and more drama. If Jon could have just waited out his contract….. actually, I don’t know the details, because I read that TLC had on option on him for another year. I’m not sure what that means legally, if he had to do another year if they wanted him? But, if not, I keep wondering if he thought it was just going to be so easy to walk and start another show. Now, he’s broke? He seems incapable of caring for himself. I’ve already said it over and over, but I hope he gets it together soon.
does anyone know if they can resume taping the kids?
I’m not sure what the option to renew means, either. I don’t know if they would have had to sign on for another year (because that doesn’t sound right), or if it just means that if they wanted to jump networks, TLC could say no, we’re doing this show for another year. Anyway, if Jon had played nice for the rest of this season, they probably would have let him go, with the divorce and all.

Yep and he wouldn’t have been broke. I just saw the pics of him and the gun and that is indeed scary. Glad it was ruled that he can’t have on the homestead, but in light of all that has happened with him, he shouldn’t be allowed to have it period.
I do wish the Gosselins the best in 2010. I hope this is the year Jon grows up and gets his life together, for the sake of his kids.
I saw Kate on Leno last night. She did a great job and looked fantastic – more relaxed than I have ever seen her.
I watched Jay Leno last night also and thought Kate did a great job. She is becoming a natural at speaking and the audience seemed to enjoy her. I added the video from the show above for those that did not get to see it.
One thing I don’t understand….I thought child support was based on the person’s income. Does Jon have an income? Does he have a potential income? Does the subject of E True Hollywood Stories/Disasters get royalties for reruns?
Wendy, LOL. Too funny!
I am wondering if his child support payments are based on last years income or even the first 6 months of this year and will be readjusted yearly. I have never been involved with child support so I am not an expert, but I would think Jon would be able to get that changed as his circumstances and income change. Not sure though.
Wendy, that’s a good question and I was wondering the same. But, I think there is some sort of minimum and w/so many children, it’s going to be a lot. They prob figured the cost of their education in their as well.
Jon’s got to pay something, states have really cracked down on child support over the 15 years or so. I don’t think they would he would have been given something beyond his reach and he shouldn’t have expected just to continue on like money was falling from the sky, lifestyles change after divorce. I don’t think Kate was awarded any great settlement, just as the resident parent she is in the house w/them. I’m sure it’s her planning that kept it from having to be sold. or a priority to both of them that the kids stay there. It’s a good thing the assets are split and their money is now each their own. It must be a relief.
I liked Kate on Leno. I also liked her boring “mom” answer of the strangest place she was recognized being at a Whole Foods at 11:00. She was cute on the Hershey kisses answer. WTG Kate.
Kimmie, I don’t think TLC can film unless Jon changes his mind. I hope they don’t start it up again if he does. It would feel like going backwards. I will miss watching the kids. They are all so adorable.
Anyway, if Jon had played nice for the rest of this season, they probably would have let him go, with the divorce and all.
It would have been so much easier on them all if Jon had done this.
I think that clip from Leno is the most “appealing” I have seen her be. I don’t know if it’s coaching, or just relief at being able to get on with her life. (And I know it must grate on some people, but I like her laugh.)
I think, depending on what kind of show she does, it would be nice to have the kids on once in a while, if they want to do it. I don’t think the general public would be comfortable with a show done the same way as J&K Plus 8.
I just watched the clip.
I agree – I think Kate did a wonderful job.
I thought the answer about the cemetery was interesting – revealing a bit more about herself.
I wonder if she would truly like a chance on “Dancing with the Stars.” It would be a good exercise in letting go of control for her. That would interesting to watch!
I liked the Selena Gomez mention. She is definitely a mom of tweens!
Kiki, I like her laugh too. And I while I agree with Lily that resuming taping of “? + 8″ would be a step backwards, I think a show with Kate, and occasional appearances by the kids, would be something I would check out.
Thanks for posting the video here…I was about to go to YouTube. I guess the time delay made the segment seem a little stiff and awkward to me, but her answers were mostly good. Okay, someone mentioned on another thread that Jon could be on DWTS, and now maybe Kate could be. For those who think she “puts out there” the things she wants to happen (and I think it is A-Okay if she does!), let’s see if she’s on DWTS and doing promotional work for Whole Foods in the future. I like her laugh, too. I find her appealing and look forward to watching any show she’s on (especially DWTS).
Thanks Pam for posting.
Mary, that was me who jokingly said that on another thread about Jon. Actually, DWTS probably will approach Kate now that she publicly said she’d like to do it. I agree with you. I think it’s a-okay to throw out there what she wants to do. She’s her #1 agent. Glad she’s working it.
All of Leno’s 10 @ 10 segments have a time delay, as they are satellite hookups. I think this time delay wasn’t that bad. I remember seeing him do 10 @ 10 with Dolly Parton and it was terrible. Same with Jennifer Lopez a few weeks back.
Kate did well. I hope the best for her and the kids in 2010.
Kate and Jay cracks me up. Good for her!!
I thought Kate did well on Leno. Tne awkwardness with the satellite delay made it harder, but over all I think she acquited himself very well.
I would kind of love to see her on DWTS, but realistically I think there’d be a huge issue with her being away from the kids, unless she packed them up (and away from school?) and brought them to LA with her for as long as she lasted on the show.
I’m SURE that there are probably people bitching at this very moment that Kate is not a “star”, but if you’ve ever watched DWTS you’d know that she’s a much bigger name, in a lot of ways, than many of the folks they have on there.
I thought Kate did a great job on the Jay Leno 10 @ 10. I also love her laugh. She really does seem like someone I would hang out with, actually reminds me of one of my close friends in her sense of humor.
As sad as it is, I’m glad the divorce is final for all. They need to move forward in healing for all of them. I think Kate will be fine, lonely but fine. I worry about the kids and Jon for different reasons. Kate has been a great mother and I have faith she will continue to do so. Jon really needs to step up his parental responsiblity and clean up his act. That child support is going to be tough to manage, but there are standards no matter what your income. This should be interesting to see what “jobs” he takes claiming Kate’s screwed him. “I did that VH1 has been show because Kate abused me in court tooooooo”, I can just see it now.
Wishing each of the Gosselin’s a Happy Holiday and a quiet New Year.
Jennie, Dr. Lillian Glass has a whole blog about how horrible and selfish Kate is for saying she wants to do Dancing with the Stars. The blog says that with the risk of injury and training schedule that could take away from her kids makes her selfish, which basically means that other mothers (or fathers I suppose) (like Marie Osmond) are selfish for doing it too. I’ve only watched one season, but I think it is pretty horrible to think ANYONE who is on the show is selfish.

Perez Hilton had this on his site:
Shameless! Kate Gosselin Fishes For Work
While on The Jay Leno Show Friday night, Jay asked the freshly divorced mother of eight if there was a certain reality show she’d like to appear on.
“Yes, Dancing with the Stars because I cannot dance,” Kate quickly offered. “I want to laugh at myself. I so cannot dance. It would be a sad sight.”
Is that your open plea to ABC, Kate Gosselin???
Sad!
I found this pretty funny considering she was asked and she answered. What was she suppose to say? Oh yes, I would like to be on Table for Twelve or the Duggars? This is fishing for work?
About the child support, our formula in Ohio is incredibly complicated and includes earnings (or earning potential if there is not enough of a record, and will take into account new raises, etc), cost of insurance, number of children, multiply by this number, divide by this number, etc. Really complicated. I don’t know what the calculation for PA is, but if Kate and Jon are both calculated as having the same amount of monthly income at the time of the split, and given that there are no other children to which each pays child support, the amount of tuition, etc. I think it isn’t unreasonable that there would be an order of 1200-1400 per child per month.
If Jon is unable to make those payments and fails to go back for a reconsideration there could be a contempt finding with jail time (30 days for the first contempt in Ohio). However, a material change in circumstances (any material change in circumstances, like the loss of a job or significant lowering of income where the judge finds it was not intentional) will allow for a new support calculation. The other thing that I think people aren’t considering (I’m looking at you, GWoP) is that Jon’s lack of ability to earn a living is really recent. The TLC injunction was only granted this month, only 11 days ago. The divorce was final about a week later. I mentioned the intentional part because I was involved in a case where the mother was a pharmacist was ordered to pay child support to the father, she decided to quit her job and “find herself” and the judge thought she had done it intentionally to avoid paying the child support. She had applied for and been offered a job (after quitting her pharmacy job) that had a similar income to the prior job but ended up accepting a job with a salary of half the other job offer and she took the lesser salary. Neither dad nor the judge was amused. I don’t know the outcome because it was not my boss’s case and I left that office prior to the final judgment.
I found this pretty funny considering she was asked and she answered. What was she suppose to say? Oh yes, I would like to be on Table for Twelve or the Duggars? This is fishing for work? ~Pam
Me too. Jeamony! What is wrong w/these people? Can’t Kate answer a single question. They take the most innocent thing. Thanks for sharing that.
Lillian Glass is one of those toxic people she wrote about in her attitude towards Kate Gosselin. It is outrageous of her to presume Kate should stay at home at tend her children’s psychological needs. For one thing, Kate has been home a lot. Another thing, I never knew being home 24/7 was the only way to accomplish this. So every mom who who goes through a nasty divorce should only be home? How long is the requirement before it’s okay to do something for oneself? Women who go through a yucky divorce suddenly have no needs or other responsibilities? Apparently, to avoid injury, they shouldn’t do anything too risky. They are stripped of their own emotional healing/needs and no effort into making a new life and healing for themselves? Lillian Glass is an idiot and should be transported back in time to live the life of unhappy miserable housewife w/no choice but to stay in her rotten marriage w/her only outlet being caring for her home which she better to keep to perfection,…. yes, and a passel of kids to top it off.
Erin Kate, Marie Osmond is a good comparison. What is she doing outside of her home when it’s not all perfect roses and sunshine there? They forgot to publicly whip her over that.
Pam, or Real World or Bad Girls. When you think about it, her reality show answers had to be one of very few “respectable” shows. She can’t really say “I’d really like to do a Real World Challenge.” She has to say something like Dancing with the Stars.
Oh, horrors, a divorced mom is trying to find work! What is the world coming to?
Seriously, if she wants to pursue a career in showbiz, she has to go for it now, while she’s still in the news. Whether or not she was serious about DWTS, it’s a legitimate, family friendly show, so it’d be good for her. I think it’s common for celebs to “put it out there” that they want to be on the show. Plus, ET could hire Jon to comment on her performances, the way Marie commented on Donny this year. It’d be a win/win!
The blog says that with the risk of injury and training schedule that could take away from her kids makes her selfish, which basically means that other mothers (or fathers I suppose) (like Marie Osmond) are selfish for doing it too.
Somehow I doubt Glass (among others) would judge a father as harshly. Fathers are supposed to work while the wimmins stay home with the young’uns. Someone needs to tell Jon Gosselin that. Hey, maybe HE can go on DWTS. I doubt that Glass would have a problem with that.
Yikes, 1st paragraph is what I’m quoting, second is me. The bold function does funky things to me sometimes.
I commented on the post by Dr. Glass and received a response, but she has not posted the comment on her blog. Instead she emailed me. Seriously, this woman claims to be a communication expert, a PhD no less, and this is a sampling:
I was opointing iut how grueling a schedule she would have and that it is true if she would have an injury she would be incapactitated.
Now, I’m no communication expert however I can spellcheck. I suggested she look into it. Her blog is the same, typos and mistakes over and over. Come on, can anyone really take her seriously if she is calling someone like Kate a fame whore? Has she read her own biography on her own site? Its like name drop heaven.
And this episode has confirmed something I always suspected, I should not be allowed free time. It just gets me into trouble. However, given I am on vacation I read back through her blog and I have discovered my dogs have Knut the Bear Syndrome! Today, when I went to take a shower and was not paying attention to them they stood outside my bathroom door barking until I resurfaced! They clearly are addicted to adoration and attention.
Okay, I’m really done now. I’m going to use my time more constructively for the rest of the week.
Okay, I’m really done now. I’m going to use my time more constructively for the rest of the week. – Erin Kate
Erin Kate, those poor dogs!
Seriously, LOL.
Lillian Glass is an idiot and should be transported back in time to live the life of unhappy miserable housewife w/no choice but to stay in her rotten marriage w/her only outlet being caring for her home which she better to keep to perfection – Lily
Exactly, Lily. I completely agree. It is abundantly clear to me that Glass, as well as that that “Z on TV” guy, are trying to ride Kate’s coattails to advance their own agendas/careers (more TV work, a book?). Despite constantly touting “professional” credentials, their commentary is run-of-the-mill hate-blog drivel — illogical and filled with emotion.
You guys aren’t going to believe this.
Do you know some of the members of last season’s cast of “Dancing with the Stars” are mothers of children under 18?!? Someone notify Dr. Glass stat!
-Macy Gray
-Kathy Ireland
-Debi Mazar
-Melissa Joan Hart
I am sure these three don’t count (the wifey’s are at home), but I’ll mention them nevertheless:
-Chuck Liddell
-Michael Irwin
-Donny Osmond (one child left at home)
Time to start a letter writing campaign. We cannot allow moms to be on DWTS!
It’s wonderful to know child advocacy doesn’t have to stop just because J&K Plus 8 is off the air….
That was my first thought too except I was thinking “I’m a celebrity, get me outta here”.
Perez Hilton called someone shameless? He’s kidding, right?
I pretty much predicted the outcome of the divorce settlement. Bravo to the PA judge who saw what an idiot Jon is and rewarded Kate for her diligence. Jon took awful advice from awful people and lost big time. Hopefully he will settle soon w/TLC and be able to pay his child support. IMO the last straw was Jon shooting the gun on the property and he expediated the divorce and made it final. I hope that the Gosselin children will have a happy holiday season. I hope that Jon will “man up” and think of his children and create a peaceful time w/them through the holidays. My New Years wish for Jon is that he get counseling, find a competent lawyer, make peace withe TLC and put his 8 children’s interest to heart. It seems that there are big plans in the works for Kate by TLC and she will be able to do the best for her 8 children w/o the interference of her immature husband. Peace and Calm Wishes for the Gosselin children this holiday season and a better 2010. God Bless all of you on this site and the Gosselin family. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
I think Dr. Lillian Glass is great and knows exactly what she is talking about when it comes to Kate. Look at how poorly Kate did on Dancing With the Stars. She would have been better off staying home with the kids.
