Kate Gosselin will be co-hosting on The View on Monday and Tuesday of this week while Elisabeth is on maternity leave. Below is a excerpt of what was said on The View’s website.
“The next week on The View is shaping up to be a memorable one. Reality TV mom Kate Gosselin will make her first appearances on the show as a guest co-host for Elisabeth (who’s still on maternity leave). Besides starring on TLC’s big family series Jon & Kate Plus 8, Kate has been a hot topic herself following her high-profile split with Jon. The co-hosts discussed Jon’s public comments about Kate on Tuesday’s show – think Kate will have anything to say in response?”

i couldn’t care less if kate talks about the split while on the view. i actually would like to hear her speak on other things. i think she is fairly intelligent and i know she has opinions! lol. it will be good to hear her speak on other things to get a more well-rouned view of her.
I thought Kate did a great job on the show. She was a little nervous but I could feel her positive energy flowing in her answers concerning the divorce.
Kimmie, I wholeheartedly agree with you! I just finished watching The View w/Kate on it from this morning and I have to say that I was very impressed! She did a fabulous job considering that this was her first experience with this type of forum. She was respectful and made a lot of intelligent comments. I was concerned that Joy might give her a hard time, but they really seemed to understand her reasons for “doing what she does” to support her family.
Sherri gave her the opportunity to express her feelings about Jon and “the other women” but she again chose to take the “high road” for her kids.
I’m interested to look at The View’s website to see what the feedback is so far regarding her appearance. No doubt the “other sites” have been working tirelessly to keep her from being able to make an appearance…looks like they failed once again!
Along those same lines…as much as I can’t stand to read their “hate-filled posts,” I’m going to “lurk” over there for a moment to see what on earth she could have done or said this morning on The View that would warrant their harsh criticism. Wouldn’t it be refreshing if just for once they had nothing but positive things to say???
I thought she did a good job, especially considering this is different from what she usually does.
She didn’t get to say a whole lot, but she did contribute a few things. ( She looked great, too.)
She’ll probably be more comfortable tomorrow.
Gotta love the way Sherri asked her about Jon. I think she’s been down that road herself.
The View’s message board has been inundated with anti-Kate posts ever since she was announced as a guest host. Which is funny, because some of them are complaining that she has no business there because she hasn’t done anything, she’s only a mother. But, she’s filling in for Elizabeth, whose only claim to fame was losing on a reality/game show.
I bet the producers were thrilled to see all those posts. If people are interested enough to write to complain about her, most of them will watch it, one way or another. Like, you know, their remotes will be stuck on that channel, or the cat will change to it , or something.
LOL Kiki about the cat changing the channel! What Kate was able to get in edge wise on The View, I thought went well. It is a very vocal group of women! I would think it’d be refreshing to get to talk about something other than her marriage/divorce kids. I’m sure tomorrow will be even better & I liked that the show kept things pretty light today in regards to Kate’s life.
gah! i missed it! lol. too much going on here. i will miss tomorrow’s as well, going out of town…is there a place we can watch it online?
well kiki i went to see what gwop had to say…and not having seen the the view today i just have to say this:
if i had read only there i would come away with a vastly different take on how this went. having read here though i would love to watch it.
I caught a whole 10 minutes today, because I’m staying with my niece and Maddie takes up all of my time (how on earth do GWoPpers do it with all those kids and the constant blogging?). I have a couple of minute during nap time to comment, but I thought she did fine. I liked her answer to why she doesn’t pull out, she’ll still have all the flack and none of the paycheck. I think that’s true. I saw the message boards and saw the hate on Kate for commenting on the Duggars, I don’t watch The View because I’m usually working and I don’t have tivo or anything, but isn’t that the whole point of the hot topics part of the show? Giving opinions on hot topics?
As an aside–Mad mixes up the l and y (she says yittle for little) not unlike Alexis, and we give her a sippy cup still even though she is three (the dentist didn’t seem to have a problem with it) and she has a lovey called blanky bear that goes every where with her, including two days of preschool per week. What a bad Auntie I am. She also doesn’t get markers or paint because they are messy. We don’t do bibs, mostly because getting one on her at this age would be more of a fight than I care to deal with at this point (unless we are out and then absolutely bibs are required so she still looks nice after eating). Ok, now I have to go watch the Tigger Movie, a perfect capstone to a very long day.

I saw some of the beginning and part of the Victoria Beckham segment. I thought Kate did a good job. She has come so far from the KMart commercials in how she presents herself. She fit right in. I have it on tape, but there’s a new show tonight too, so I don’t know when I’ll get to watch it.
I would think that in the midst of her divorce where Jon has tried to humiliate and hurt so, that it must feel good to do this for herself.
It does sound like Jon took Hailey to meet the children this weekend since Kate talked about melting down and Sherry asked her about it. Shame on him.

I just watched and thought Kate did very well. It is hard to get a word in edgewise with Whoopi, Joy, and Sheri but Kate look fantastic and made appropriate comments in each segment. She did every bit as well as Elizabeth did in the beginning.
Kate seemed very down to earth and direct.
I thought Kate did well, too. I am glad she addressed the issues surrounding her. She did it with dignity and poise. And, she even joked about the dissolving of her ten year marriage when asking Victoria her question. I agree Paige, she was very down to earth.
It did seem like it’s hard to get in a word in edgewise , but I thought Kate did extremely well. After seeing the links Pam provided (thanks Pam), I am happy for Kate that she got the opportunity to do what she wants to in the next phase of her life. Bill the producer seems to like her and that’s a good start. She’ll do good. She’s well on her way to a new career.
No doubt, Tuesday’s show is going to be solemn, due to the death of Patrick Swayze, Whoopi’s friend. I would imagine that would consume the first portion of the show.
Theresa, it’s so sad about Patrick Swayze. He really held in there. I agree it will affect the show tomorrow.
I watched the clips. The insider one is too cute. Can’t stand the pointy shoes on the “What I’m wearing segment”. I liked everything else she had on though. It’s nice to see her smiling and having fun with everything. WTG Kate!
Thanks Lily! Mad is adopted and we use the Tigger Movie to talk about you don’t have to look alike to be family you just have to love each other and take care of each other. I agree that I thought Kate fit in pretty well. I have to go back to work tomorrow, so I’ll miss it then too–However, I’m all for Kate finding adequate compensation away from the show. If that is her own talk show, good for her! I don’t think she and Jon could support their kids very well on a nurse’s salary (especially one that has been out of the work force for at least 4 years) and a non-degree holding computer tech. I don’t understand people being up in arms about Kate doing speaking tours, books. Also, I don’t get the uproar over being called a single mother–now in order to be a single mom you have to be the only caregiver and the only provider and a deadbeat other spouse? I work with a lot of single parents in my work, and I have to say I think Kate qualifies.
ok i watched it. i think she did so well. and i don’t see anywhere that any of the ladies ignored her or looked down on her. i think they included her. and i enjoyed watching her. it just goes to show how ywoo people can watch the same show and hatred can completely color one of their opinions.
i think at first she was a little nervous and kept looking at the monitor/teleprompter or whatever it is but i think in the last part she overcame that and did really well.
i hadn’t heard about patrick swayze til just now….sad.
Kimmie, I agree, she wasn’t ignored. When I’ve watched they’re always vying for who gets to speak.
I was wondering if Kate did get offered a talk-show, would she be able to do J&K+8 and be apart of another show? There are a lot of possibilities for conflict if she was offered one now. TLC appears to have a lot of clout in what public appearances are allowed. Jon couldn’t get out of his contract to do the Divorced Dads show, they’re not going to let Kate out of hers. Lot’s of times celebrities have to forgo opportunities because of existing contracts. Perhaps, Kate is thinking this is the last season and then hoping to be offered one? Doing two shows at once, doesn’t seem feasible. Just wondering how that would work out. I think she would be great at it. I’m not into any of the current talk shows. I really enjoyed Rosie’s for a long time. I hope Kate gets one. Talk shows come and go and I think it’s a good thing to have on her resume.

If you miss Kate Gosselin’s run on The View this week, not to worry. She’s apparently gunning for her own ladies-only chatfest.
And I hear Gosselin may already be cooking something up with a well-seasoned television veteran.
Sources tell me that Telepictures—the media heavyweight behind Ellen DeGeneres’ and Tyra Banks’ hit shows—is looking to develop a View-like morning show with Gosselin and television cooking queen Paula Deen.
“They’re looking around and casting for other women to be on the show with them,” one source said. “But they want all the women to be moms.”
For the one percent of the world’s population who may not know this already, Gosselin, 34, has eight little ones with estranged husband Jon, 32.
Deen, 62, has two grown sons, Jamie and Bobby. She already hosts three shows, Paula’s Home Cooking, Paula’s Party and Paula’s Best Dishes, for the Food Network. Although Deen signed a deal with Telepictures to host her own syndicated talk show, the project never took off.
A rep for Telepictures would not confirm or deny a Gosselin-Deen show was in the works. “We don’t comment on any development activity,” the rep said.
Gosselin told Entertainment Weekly about four months ago she has hopes of landing a talk show. “There are no mom-centered talk shows,” she told the magazine. “I think that would be a very comfortable thing for me.”
Gosselin’s two-day guest cohosting gig on The View kicked off this morning.
oh, i was going to say that maybe tlc is wondering if the show has only a couple more seasons and allowing kate to feel out other avenues.
i think it could work if she does the filming for the new show on her off days when jon has the kids.
Apparently, Hailey did meet the kids last weekend-
I wonder if he consulted with his high-priced therapist before he did this? I know Jon thinks she is the love of his life and all, but they’ve only been together 4-5 months. I’ve always heard that it’s best to wait until you’re really in a committed relationship before you introduce someone to your kids.
Kate and Paula Deen could be a good combination. If she’s determined to be a talk show host, she’ll probably find a way to do it, and learn how to best present herself. I just want her to succeed at it because I know people will be spontaneously combusting all over the internet.
Oh I love LOVE Paula Deen. I made her Savannah Cheesecake Cookies for a potluck over Labor Day weekend. Yum-o!
I just… eh. Sorry ladies, but I am not sure that I can stomach a Kate talk show even if she is paired with my beloved Paula. Count me as one who hopes this isn’t true. It would probably do well, though. Really well.
I think the Jon/Hailey relationship will be headed for rebound land in the next few months. In my experience, relationships that go from zero to 100 in a very short time will crash and burn just as quickly.
I watched it and I think she did really well! I look forward to seeing her on again today.
If its true I think it’s utterly irresponsible and trashy for Jon to bring Hailey into the kid’s lives.
I missed Monday’s show but I’m watching Tuesdays show right now. Kate seems to fit in well. She looks like she is having fun.
I thought Kate did much better today than yesterday. (and I thought she did pretty good yesterday).
She stood her own with Dr. Phil. She honestly answered questions (those that have been posed in the blogworld), and Whoopi & Joy seemed to be genuinly friendly with her. I thought Sherri was yesterday, but today, she (Sherri) seemed to be all gaga over Taylor Swift. Come to think of it, she was all gaga over Victoria Beckham, too. I get the feeling Whoopi doesn’t care too much for Sherri.
I guess Kate did welll enough to be asked back for Friday, as Whoopi announced she’s back on the show on Friday. Once again, more practice for her.
As for a new show for Kate, I’d have to say that if she keeps talking about her divorce, Jon, etc…then, I’m with you Angela. I’d be bored and I really am tired of hearing about it. But, I think she’s smart enough to branch out from this and would want to not talk about that stuff. Seems she’s intent on moving on and seems eager to do so, especially with expressing her desire to do her own talk show. I think a show with Paula would be just what she needs to get the ball rolling.
When Rachael Ray was just cooking 30 minute meals, who would’ve thunk she’d be a hit with her own talk show one day?
I thought Kate did great again today and thought her change in hairstyle was cute. Not sure she should keep it like that all of the time, but that is HER perrogative…something a lot of the world seems to forget all to often!haha
I’m glad to hear that she’ll be back on Friday as well…she might have very well found her niche. A way to support her family AND get the kids out of the public eye.
OK…maybe I’m crazy, but did anyone else feel that Dr. Phil was just a little cold toward her after she said that she disagreed with Jon’s statement and felt that Dr. Phil and Robin gave them a lot of wisdom, etc. that she appreciated?
Maybe it was just because he didn’t want to discuss it any further, but when she said, “Thank you” to him, he just glanced at her and said, “O.K.”, looked away and then moved on to the next subject.
I thought the same thing about Dr. Phil, too Jacquelyn! You are not crazy.
Kudos to Kate for not being rattled by it either. She certainly has the thick skin that is needed to host a show.
ok…i just watched the view from this morning. again i think she did very well. i think dr phil seemed uncomfortable with the topic of jon and kate…not necessarily with kate. i’m sure he didn’t want to discuss anything he talked with them about. i noticed that with whomever he was speaking he only looked at them. when barbara questioned him he only looked at her, not at any of the others, not at the cameras, not at the audience.
i think kate is doing well in something that is pretty new to her.
I just watched some of the video clips at The View website. Kate did just fine. I agree that a Paula Deen/Kate Gosselin pairing would be very popular. (I wouldn’t watch either…I don’t really care for these type of shows.)
Erin Kate, I love your description of a day spent with your niece. I’d give her the messy markers, myself, but I won’t lose sleep worrying about whether you’ve stunted her emotional development. I’m pretty sure she knows she’s loved and can handle the messy marker denial until she’s five years old.
I may regret writing this, but when Kate does well, as she did this week, I feel a little sorry for Jon. He just looks like such a loser to me. I wish he’d get a nice job off-camera. His appearance on this past week’s show was lame (and he was fishing…ironic.)
Ann, I promise there isn’t stunted growth! Hee. The marker rule isn’t mine, but my brother’s rule. I see the rationale, having given her a pen to draw a picture and going to the bathroom, only to come back to marked up face/hands/legs, and a very large “monster” drawn on the wall. I was gone like a minute and a half! She’s speedy for three. I put her in time out and then said “when dad gets home you are probably going to answer for that, you aren’t allowed to mark the walls.” She said “Auntie, you don’t know everything.” (Someone give us a reality show!) I always have to laugh a little, though, because all these things people say are so horrible about the Gosselin children my brother and sister-in-law do with Mad. She’s a great kid, very advanced, and not having any problems in pre-school (admittedly she isn’t able to hold a pen or marker correctly but she’s three). I travel with them as much as I can because my sister-in-law is disabled and they need the extra help. Three months ago on one of these trips my brother scolded my niece and a little while later Mad said dad yelled at her and my sister-in-law said “Don’t listen to daddy, he’s being mean today.” I just get a kick out of all the things that are similar in the way this one little girl is being raised.

At best he is asssociating with people who only want to use him and at worse he really is sleeping with multiple women while professing his love for Hailey. (read about the babysitters allegations)
I tend to think there is truth to the babysitters story because of the picture of her leaving the garage apartment and how upset Kate was the night the cops came. Maybe she embellished it somewhat but the gist of it is he was romancing a woman (other than soulmate Hailey) in his home where his children are while stilled married.
ok, i get that this NOT true…and i also get that people are allowed to write/say things they want to regardless if true…BUT i cannot believe people believe this!!!!! but such is the case….gwop has some posts that are saying this may be the end of kate on the view, they figure now kate won’t be back on friday, that her pr team will have a lot of damage control going on…oh my!

Hi everyone. I thought some might want to see this. It’s a video of Jon sending the dogs away. It’s sickening that he has the paps right there and so are the kids. He blames Kate. In the video he compares Kate’s wish of him not bringing Hailey to the house to meet the kids to Kate not meeting his wishes by keeping and caring for the dogs. He’s such a baby whiner. I can’t imagine what it was like to reason and work with him in their marriage.
Those twitters by Hailey the other night where she called Kate Katezilla were horrible. imo, Jon needs to rid himself of everyone and just focus on himself so he can get it together for his kids.
It’s sad the kids won’t have their dogs anymore. I hope they keep the two of them together since they were brought up as littermates.
I was just coming to post that video, you beat me to it.
It’s sad, but I think the dogs will be better off. The kids will be upset, but I think they are more Jon’s dogs than anyone else’s. I know Kate said she might want a small dog one day, and Jon is the one who wanted the big ones. If he wants to keep them, he can get a place that will accommodate them. Eight kids, plus two big dogs, is a lot for anyone to handle, especially when at least part of the time that person will be a sitter or nanny.
But, once again, Jon makes himself look bad. I sort of feel sorry for him, too, sometimes, because it seems as if he really believes that everyone thinks Kate treated him so badly, that anything he wants to do now is just fine and dandy. Really, Jon, you can’t equate not bringing your girlfriend to the house with deciding whether or not to keep the dogs.
yeah i posted this on another thread. i think they were more jon’s dogs than anyone’s and he should have taken care of them or if he sent them away shouldn’t have put the blame on kate.
Hey, doesn’t the wonderful Hailey live in her parents’ house? Maybe she could take the dogs.
Since they’re soul-mates I’m sure she’ll love them just as much as he does.

I agree Paige. Jon’s mistakes will definitely hurt the kids in the long run and he is associating with people who want to use him. Btw, isn’t this the same Jon who said he didn’t want to be known as Jon of “Jon and Kate”, but yet he banked on it by hosting that swimming party a few weeks back and now befriending the paps. I thought he didn’t want any of it, yet he’s inviting all that attention (and making it with his dumb mistakes).
For all the ambition Kate has, he really doesn’t seem to have any. His quip about her out doing the View was backhanded. Excuse me Jon, but she’s pursuing a career she wants. To me, that is an excellent example for the kids to learn from their parent. And, she’s thinking of their future and how to support them (quite possibly without the TLC show down the road). She’s not out screwing everything that walks.
The video is hard to see. Anyone who’s had dogs before that in many cases dogs do become like family members. Both Jon and Kate were responsible for the dogs. Kate was the one who even hand picked them. Wow, what damage they have done!!!!!!
i think i am the minority voice here…i have had dogs…i have a mini schnauzer that is 10 years old in october. had her since she was 6 weeks old. she is loved, cared for, played with etc…BUT she isn’t a family member. she is our pet…an animal.
that may make me unpopular but i think we have to have a little perspective…an animal is not like a kid in a family. i would never give away my kid but if the situation was such that i felt i had to i could give away my dog. it would totally depend on the situation and i am not saying that the gosselin situation would be one that would make me give my pet up.
Jon should have considered the dogs when he rented a small, albeit expensive, apartment in NYC that is not condusive to kids or dogs… Kate is out earning a living… What is Jon doing? Blaming Kate on the lack of care of the dogs was wrong, although the Jon supporters (i.e. Kate haters) are eating it up… According to them it’s ALL Kate’s fault… They’re even talking about a conspiracy that Kate has created with the press to make Jon look worse. HELLO? Jon doesn’t need any help… He’s doing a fine job of self-destruction on this own.

It’s a noble role and it does not denigrate a dog or a cat to admit they are not children, they are pets. Pets don’t leave their shoes in the living room at night, lol!
Jon is a sad sack IMO. I don’t think he knows what end is up. He is envious of the opportunities that are being offered to Kate & not to him. It’s apparent he doesn’t want to go back working a 9-5 job or any job for that matter, he wants to play around. Jon needs an image consultant- maybe they can help him find who he is. In ways, I think his new attitude/behavior is over compensating for what he feels has been a very stifled past 10 years.

ok…i just watched the view from this morning…it was hilarious!!!!! i laughed out loud so much! good thing i was the only thing here…lol.
i have to hand it to kate…she isn’t cowed by much. she knew she was going into this view thing facing a lot of news/tabloid articles plus dr phil and kathy griffin…and she did so well. she’s got spunk!

Pets are not human, that I understand, but people do bond and love them very much. At a time like this, I would think you would try not to upset your children anymore then necessary. Again both parents are to blame.
I taped it and watched. I wanted to see what Kathy G would do. Part of me was wondering if she’d try to get banned from The View again for the fun of it. She was completely different than what I thought, a little toned down from her normal self. I was so surprised she was a fan of Kate, she said she had watched the show since the first season and it was a good show. I thought Kate did a good job. Sherry looked exceptionally pretty today. I also didn’t know that Joy was getting her own sitcom, I had seen previews for the new show of Sherry’s but had heard nothing about Joy’s. Kate did a good job again. I heard that Christie Brinkley might be also be a cohost on the show Paula Deen is putting together. I don’t watch cooking shows, (I love Ace of Cakes though), but I have seen Paua here and there when flipping channels. I liked her, reminds me of some of my kin.
