"But why do we as the public get to determine what Kate should do, career-wise? Why do the haters constantly have to harangue her about her career choices? Do you think strangers should determine what YOU do for a living?"

Because she is in the public eye and makes her living on "ratings" the pubic to some degree determines what she will do for a living. The controversy about her helps her in her career and I think she knows it, and I think she plays it up. TLC has certainly played it up. I do believe the "haters are trying to stop her from making a living" is overblown." Kate has a few "New World Problems" of her own.

Mombsy, thanks, I'm not a troll. I post here occasionally and probably disagree with most here about Kate but I don't say nasty things about her.

Also I should add, Donna I in no way assume that you are one of those really nasty gal's trolling the internet. You may not care for Kate and of course have a right to that opinion. I have a feeling there are a few contestent's who I may or may not enjoy also. I have heard that they expect the highest rating's ever for the show so it seem's that they may continue with the "controversial" contestent trend. I guess we will find out tonight how well it works.

Thank you Jennie and Diane I could not have come up with a better reply! I realize that we all may have different opinions on what and who we find entertaining. I freely admit it was one of the few shows on t.v. that I watched, no I did not always like some of the things I saw or heard. But I realized it was an edited, glimpse into a family's real life and to be honoust I saw some of my own flaws in Kate. Yes, Kate is a reality star and with that there is going to be those that like her and those who don't. However, she is also a REAL person who in the last few years has had a group of people who feel it is their right to destroy her. These people IMO have gone way beyond what is normal, and their continued harrassment is what finally made me express my opinion about a situation and person who I do not even know, for the first time. Maybe because it makes me sad that people and especially other women think it's ok to treat someone like that, just because they are in the public eye. I don't like hate mongering, so I gues if that makes me seem like I think I am morally superior so be it.

Jennie , Thank you for almost reading my mind in reply above:) The on reason I come to this board is that I enjoy reading different opinions without disparaging remarks. I liked that the woman who come here have strong opinions and present their views in a manner that is not offensive to anyone.

I do want to thank the ladies who run this board. I enjoy all the articles that you provide the site. I know that all of you work hard to provide a variety of subjects for us to participate in. Thank you again for a great site!

You could say that to everyone posting here, Momsby. It doesn’t make you morally superior because you like Kate. You’re still posting on a message board criticizing those you don’t like.
The purpose of this board is not solely to criticize anyone. Can't say the same about the Kate-hate boards.

I’m happy that her kids aren’t on TV anymore but why does she have to be on a show I watch? What happened to her own TV show?
I think that this is what is known as a "First World problem." As to your second question, I think it's still in the works.

Everyone that watches reality shows have people they love and those they don’t love. I don’t know why some get so carried away about their love/hate relationships with these people. You may believe that Kate is the exception but she isn’t. I read a lot of message boards and there is similar vitriol out there about a lot of reality stars. It goes with the territory.

That doesn't make it right. People are still responsible for the despicable things they have said about her, and for trying to interfere with her livelihood.
If Kate’s celebrity gigs dry up, I’m sure she’ll find something to do to support her kids, even if it is going back to nursing or the corporate world. It’s what we all do when we have kids, figure out ways to get by. It doesn’t have to be as a celebrity.

But why do we as the public get to determine what Kate should do, career-wise? Why do the haters constantly have to harangue her about her career choices? Do you think strangers should determine what YOU do for a living?
