Darlene, that's your opinion, and you are welcome to it. I don't see Kate as "role model", just a human beings with faults and virtues like anyone else.

I wonder what the Gosselin kids have learned by looking at Jon's behavior, eh?

I just question why anyone would think Kate Gosselin is an authority on family. She has been a terrible role model as a mother. Her little girls and her boys only will know how to treat their spouse by berating them and treating them with disrespect. That is what they saw when their parents where together. I hope they grow up to be different, because children learn by watching their parents.

so kate has a copy of her newest book. she's sitting with her kids, reading it to them. maybe every night she reads a chapter...something like that. the kids are 9 and 5...to them it's a book mommy wrote about/to them.

there's no drama, no embarrassing things for their friends (if their friends even read this type book which i VERY HIGHLY doubt) to tease them over...do other authors' kids get teased?

by the time they get old enough to even think differently it will be a book that they feel comfortable with and it's love in a book to them anyway.

so..how can this be bad for the kids?

I think Kate's private letters to her kids ought to be private, i can hardly see publishing a book with their photos and what should be private -thoughts for her kids is a positive, regardless of the fact that it's a "nice way to make money." Those kids have so little privacy lately, and this time has been so fraught for them I can hardly think that they would want or appreciate this.
Thinking back to my parents' divorce, and the precious note I have from when I was an 8 year old child, I cannot imagine a circumstance in which I would want or not be devastated by my parents notes to me published-- or all of my little world, never mind all of America, knowing my family's business and discussing it.
Just watching Tiger Woods' apology on tv tonight I have to wonder what it is that we DO consider private and none of our business.

Wendy--just read your comment and they do say it was to "document things" because they didn't have the time to do it. I'm sure that changed along the way though....

I don't begrudge either of them a chance to make money to support their family, but a personal book with letters why they love them? Really? Shouldn't that be personal? But nothing ever has been so I personally don't think they have any boundaries. Of course I'm watching. But I do think the Mom and Dad need to remember that TV fans are not the point, the kids are. I don't know anymore, I'm sure someone would say I'm hypocritical. But really, for me, it was just a TV show I watched. What happened?
