The real draw for me was all the blogging about the show.

I think that's a good point. The show was entertaining but the craziness that surrounded it was fascinating. I don't think some of the haters ever got that we didn't defend Kate because we idolized her so much (I didn't and don't idolize her); rather the unfairness of the criticism that was leveled at her spurred us.

I feel sorry for Jon too. I feel like Kate hit the nail on the head when she said (paraphrasing) that Jon is a follower who listens to others who tell him what to do and think. I don't think he's a horrible person, but I think if he's following crappy people, he can be pretty crappy himself. It's too bad, because he does have good qualities.

The real draw for me was all the blogging about the show. I would have stopped watching a long time ago except for the "child advocates" sideshow. All the handwringing about exploitation as if the show did not benefit those kids has been interesting. Given the chance, I would not have done the show the same way Jon and Kate did, but I can't say that I blame them for taking the opportunities they did.

Without a doubt, Kate turned out to be a better parent to those kids. Theresa said that Jon is not very bright, and I agree. He stikes me as being a little slow. I still feel a bit sorry for him. He's been exploited, it turns out, not by TLC (who paid him handsomely for his "work") but by the Glassman family, the Hellers, M. Lohan, and Kate Major. They deserve what they got back from him.

Heller is laughable.

I think that Jon keeps Heller because he agrees with the things Heller says. In Jon's mind he probably believes he was the draw.

I personally believe it was the interaction between Jon and Kate that kept people interested in watching the show.
I didn't always agree with some of the things Kate did but I also don't have 8 small children. I do have a set of twin boys and it was a lot of work. I can't imagine twins and sextuplets.

I admire Kate for her strength and courage.

The whole family was the draw, not just Jon or his interaction with his wife which more than half the time was embarrassing and hard to watch. Jon has acted so badly people would watch him to see what outrageous thing he is doing, but in a very different spirit, in my case at least, than we watched him as the father of a family of 8 young kids with a demanding wife.
I wonder if his kids will be teased although I don't wonder about it very much. I'm sure they will be, if either parent does a show that is not of a reasonably high quality. It's one thing to be famous and photographed for your reality show about being a family of multiples, which will have its embarrassing moments, but to have to have your father or mother doing some kind of reality show that seeks to shock and outrage people just to get viewers would be very painful for the kids socially. He's blown his world's favorite father, or father of the world's favorite family role, that is for sure. What's left?
Heller is terrible.

I think the only housewives who would want to see Jon on tv now is that "group" who used to regularly bash him and Kate, until it became more important for Kate to be the bad guy. Remember when they had discussions about whether Jon or Jim Bob Duggar was hotter?

I don't think Jon could get anyone better than Heller at this point. Everyone is on to him now.
Heller is probably happy to give him a break on his fees because he's getting all this free publicity.

And, Mary, I don't think Kate would want the media to back off now, with a new book and tv show in the works. I don't think it hurts the kids to hear about their mom getting a new haird0, the way it might hurt them to hear about their dad's girlfriends.
