Halloween. It was the scariest for me when I saw it and I can’t think of any that top it. I love the classic ones.
I saw it for the first time in high school on a date. It was so frightening. When I got home, I put some water in the coffee maker to make a cup of instant tea. I went into the bedroom to change and heard the sound of Michael breathing through his mask. I froze for a minute, but wasn’t sure enough to wake anyone up. I was so brave and picked up a baseball bat to walk through the house ready to bash Micheal Myers if he had somehow made it to my home. I was so stupid. I hadn’t put the filter piece on the coffee maker and it was spewing hot steaming water into the pot below. Those movies used to get me so worked up.
I saw Halloween 2 on Halloween night and then we went to “The Bridge”. It was out in the country and we would take people out there. If they saw the train, legend had it they wouldn’t return. You would get them intense looking over the bridge and the train would blast all this air up on you. We got out and saw the train, etc etc. But then car wouldn’t start. The guys tried and tried and the girls all got scared because we were out in the middle of nowhere and we knew Michael was prob not far.
It wasn’t until years later that I found out from one of the guys that it was all a put-on and the car was fine.
When we saw “The BLAIR WITCH PROJECT”, I had to help my boys go to sleep because they were so frightened. What I never told anyone I was glad to do it because I was scared to death myself!! HELTER SKELTER, The STRANGER BESIDE ME, and any movie where good looking teenage girls go into a creepy house looking for their friends.
Silence of the Lambs really freaked me out.
The first scary movie I ever remember watching was “Terror Train.” I think David Copperfield was in it. It scared the crap out of me. I think I was about 14 at the time. If I saw it now, I’m sure I’d laugh my head off!
Halloween and The Exorcist still make me jump. The Exorcism of Emily Rose also really freaks me out. Now that I’m a mom, I can hardly watch any of the movies where a child is either hurt or the bad guy.
I remenber seeing “Dracula” with my mother when I was about 8. It scared me silly. I can’t remember what version it was only that it was in “Techno-Color”. LOL
Halloween was probably the last scary movie I saw. I really don’t like them. My daughter loves them though, she got that from her father. Ha
I’ve mentioned before that “The Blair Witch Project” nearly gave me a heart attack when I saw it in the theater. I don’t see many scary movies, and hardly ever actually on the big screen, and it was intense. It still creeps me out to think about it, but it doesn’t really scare me, though if I were in the woods and thinking about it I think it would.
Another one I saw on DVD a few years ago – “Identity” – it’s really more of a psychological thriller once you figure out what’s going on, but it’s very creepy.
Most scary movies, I find just sort of gory. The most recent movie that I found scary was The Ring. For some resaon, that short video in the movie was really creepy. After I saw that movie , I would wash my hair in the shower with my eyes open.
Oh, you’re right; “The Ring” is scary. The images in the video are all vaguely (some explicitly) disturbing, and the little girl is creepy. I’ve heard the original Japanese version is better, but I’ve never seen it.
Ok, I saw all of these and thought to myself, time to add some real horror. If you want pure gore and some crazy sadistic stuff that might make you puke, no joke if you have a weak stomach you will, watch “Cannibal Holocaust”. If you want a movie that gets you thinking a bit to much, “Session 9″, “Secret Window”, andddd “The Fourth Kind”. If you want an all around amazing horror movie.. “The Blair Witch Project” was a landmark film, not to scary but very remarkable. Do some research on the Blair Witch and the myth and legends and stories surrounding it. “The Exorcism of Emily Rose” actually kept me up at night. Watch it with the lights off and in your bedroom ALL ALONE. The volume was up quite a bit. Scared the crap outta me. If your freaked out by Clowns but want a good movie “It” was very good, until the end…. But yeah, thise were some movies I liked. Not scary, at least not to me except Emily Rose that is. Watch em.
