Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week has just wrapped up in New York, and what was once a big event for industry insiders and a handful of celebrities has become de rigueur for celebrities and celebrity wanna-bes alike, and a bit of a pop culture phenomenon as well. Do you pay attention? Any favorite designers or collections? Any trends you see making it down to those of us who shop at Target more often than Dior? Jezebel covered NY Fashion Week pretty extensively, if you’re interested in viewing some of the shows.

Fashion Week is now Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week? Too funny. Wonder how much they paid for that?
Anyway, I took a look at some of the lines. Not sure how it will fit into what your average woman will be wearing in 2011. I know some consider fashion serious art and give it the same respect.
I did see there was the first ever plus-sized fashion show at Fashion Week.
I do not usually pay attention. If the dresses that are pictured here are an indication of what was featured, I probably would not be interested. This is spring fashions I take it?
I agree, Pam—Not my taste either!!
I actually like the blue one. Not to actually wear myself, but just from an aesthetic point of view.
And I guess that’s what a lot of high fashion is – an art form, rather than something that the average woman can relate to, afford, wear. I don’t necessarily get it, though I think watching Project Runway has made me a bit more savvy and open-minded about out-there styles.
