Now that College football has started and the Pros begin on Thursday, the age old argument begins: Which is better, College or the Pros? The NFL rules in per game TV viewership, but college football routinely draws 100,000 people plus at stadiums across the country. The argument boils down to this:
Watch better players (NFL) or watch amateurs (?) play for fun instead of money. I prefer the pro game. It has the best players, therefore the best plays. College provides more excitement, but more one-sided games (Florida vs Charleston, really?).
So as we begin another quest for the College Championship and the Super Bowl Champs, I ask you; College or NFL? Which teams do you enjoy following?

Definitely pro. I’m not a huge football fan. Maybe if I was I, I would be more into college football – I can see the appeal of having so many matchups to choose from every Saturday. I do follow a few teams and pay some attention once the bowls come around in December-January.
Oh blech, it’s back to interrupt my normal tv viewing. Not a fan. To all who are, Enjoy the season and hope your team wins.
I do look forward to the new commercials during the Superbowl.
I prefer pro but I can get into a college team that I want to support. I enjoy watching pro for the actual game. I enjoy watching college for the crowd. Brings back some memories from when I was in college.
I am a big Packer fan and I guess that is obvious from my avatar. I also enjoy watching Wisconsin football. Love college bowl season in December and I like being in pools. It really makes the whole thing more interesting.
Pro football absolutely is my favorite sport.
Pam, oh the pools make it – don’t they? Not that any money exchanges hands, of course! Wink! Years ago, my dad participated in a pool at work. He let my sister and I pick our own slate of teams and come Sunday we were all checking out the games and final scores. I think I won or came close to it a couple of times, which is funny because I was just a clueless pre-teen who picked based on factors such as whether I like the name of the team. BTW, Green Bay was always a favorite for some reason.
I like the pros better. Saturday is usually too busy for me to pay attention to sports anyway. That said, in honor of my late dad:
GO PENN STATE!!!!
Over the past 15 years or so we have always held what we called football Sunday at our house. The crowd changes every Sunday and I never know who is going to be here or how many to cook for. The one thing that is always constant is our “neighborhood” pool. Each person only throws a couple of bucks in so the pot is never huge, but you would think it was $1,000. It is so much fun to watch my sons and their friends as well as my husband and his friends cheer for and get upset with teams or games that they would never give the time of day to otherwise if they did not have a pool to win. Every game is watched with intensity. I am sure there are people who will read this and look down on our “neighborhood” pool but it has provided us with some great times.
Well, I won’t look down. In fact, I think I’d like to move to your neighborhood.
Seriously, it sounds like a lot of fun. Bet the food is good too with you cooking/grilling!
I LOVE college football. Love APP state….. Michigan who?
There’s just something about college ball that I really enjoy. I would rather be in the stadium watching a football game than almost anywhere else and its been forever since I’ve had the chance. College ball is so much about the fun (and the rivalry) whereas Pro is often about he $.
College Football – no doubt. It’s a religion down here in the South. People plan weddings around football season.
I went to the University of Alabama. My boyfriend is a huge Penn State fan. UA starts a two year series with PSU in 2010, so our relationship will definitely be tested!
Angela-
Roll Tide!
Rammer Jammer, Samantha!
We are actually going down to Tuscaloosa this weekend.
Pro, Hoping for the turnpike bowl this year. Right Erin!
Congratulations Paula on the win last night! Go Packers.
Thanks Pam, although they didn’t look their best. I have a gut feeling that San Diego and Philadelphia are going to be in the super bowl. I can hope for the turnpike bowl. lol
