” Something wonderful is going to happen today and I can’t wait to find out what it is.”
Almost every morning for over two years I have said this quote. I’m not sure where I found it but it caught my attention. I said it so often that my children started to say it too. It became part of our morning as we headed out the door for school and work. At the end of the day, at supper time, we would trade stories of what wonderful things happened to each of us during the day. I’m not sure why we stopped.
Lately, mornings have not been so light. Maybe it’s because of the time of year it is? Maybe it’s because mornings are too hectic? Maybe we forgot the wonderful things that can happen in the run of a day? Maybe it’s time we should recite and giggle over our little mantra again?
First thing tomorrow morning I will remind my family to keep a positive attitude by saying, “Something wonderful is going to happen today and I can’t wait to find out what it is.”

Kimberly, I love this mantra.
I think it’s a real gift to our children when we try and convey a positive attitude at the start of the day. I know – not always easy!!! Mornings can be so hectic and if one isn’t a morning person (raising hand here) it’s even harder.
I think making the effort even if you only remember to say it a few days a week is wonderful, however. And to follow up at supper time and trade stories about the day reinforces the concept of looking out for the good in everyday life.
So much in life is about attitude. Fostering appreciation and postivity is one of the best contributions we can make to our children’s development, I believe.
This is awesome. I really like this idea. Wonderful things *do* happen every day, but we don’t always recognize them. Good for you for making an effort. I will try to emulate your example.
Thanks for this reminder to start your day feeling positive and good things will make themselves known. Wonderful things do happen every day, we just need to allow ourselves to see and feel them.
Did anyone have any wonderful things that have happened to them today or recently that they would like to share?
I love that saying. What a great practice and a good thing to teach to your children too. There is good in every day if we look for it.
