When Missy Severson and Liz Snowden met online in 2006, they probably never guessed that their communication and subsequent friendship would mark the beginning of something fabulous–their Sweet Funky Vintage clothing line for children.
What began as chatter about fabric lead to more interesting discoveries. They came to find out that they had much in common. They grew up in the same town, went to the same University and were even members of the same sorority. More importantly though, they shared similar passions for fashion design, sewing and children.
Inspired by these passions and their friendship, Missy and Liz got to work. They formed a partnership and began creating the line. Lucky for us that they did. Sweet Funky Vintage clothes are stylish, interesting, and hand sewn. They are a welcome change from the choke hold of pink pastels and baby blues you find in typical clothing lines. Not finding what you want on the website? No problem! You can design your own outfit. How many typical mall retailers let you do that? Instead, mall retailers charge high prices for more of the same.
If adorable, custom made, hand sewn children’s clothes were not appealing enough, the company has a social mission. Missy and Liz did not just want to create a product, they wanted to help children in need. With that in mind, they started Wonderfully Worn. Through this program, Sweet Funky Vintage clothing that is gently used can be donated. The used clothes will go to children served by The Tree House of Tallahassee, FL. There is also a Birthday Program which allows you to register your child’s birthday with the company and be given a discount on products to be used in their birthday month.
So when you’re shopping for your kids this spring, it’s a no brainer. You can choose stale….. or you can choose funky. And lets be honest…who doesn’t want their kid to look just a little bit cuter than the others?

Erin-
Thank you so much for introducing me to this site! I LOVE the clothes- you are right its so hard to find any out of the basic blue/pink spectrum for kids! What a great find!
Wow, I love how their partnership came together.
I checked out the site. So adorable. For some reason, I love the pants especially – the Carter pants were really cute and the bloomers. Awww!
I really appreciate that they have incorporated community responsibility into their business.
I agree – great find!
Erin, this is Awesome!
I love everything about this; the way they came together to start their business, the clothes themselves, and the re-use. What smart women! The clothes are so cool.
Yeah they have such an awesome back story and, honestly, it kind of reminded me of Imperfect Women and the way we came about.
Love it and love the clothes!!!!
Thanks for the great post, Erin. These clothes are adorable.
Do you think I could get away with buying some of these clothes for my 24 year old son.
Such cute clothes! And a really nice success story.
