The Maxi-Dress made a come back about two years ago and appears to still be going strong in today’s fashion world. It’s being called the “dress of the summer.” Jenifer Aniston, Jennifer Lopez, Nicole Ritchie and Eva Mendes are a few celebrities who have recently been seen out and about town sporting this look.

The Maxi-Dress has become a staple of comfort regardless of size. It can be seen in all types of cuts, styles, colors, and lengths. It is a floor or ankle length informal dress and usually is form fitting at the top and loose flowing at the bottom, cut to flow over the body. Not everyone can wear this look well and depending on your height it can sometimes alter the way your body looks, making tall people look shorter or women of average weight look heavy.

I remember these dresses being in style when I was twenty, and I found a picture of myself wearing one in1975.

I have a little bit of a Princess Diana thing going on there… in that you can see through my dress. Yikes! I guess I am pretty lucky I wasn’t being courted by Prince Charles at the time.

Would you wear a Maxi-Dress as you go about your regular day? To work? Do you own any of these dresses?

The question remains though, is it here to stay?

Jennifer Lopez spent New Year’s Eve in Times Square singing and dancing in a skin tight shimmering body suit. In a unitard bedecked with sparkles that showed off a nearly flawless physique, she rung in the New Year with her new single “Louboutins,” from her first album since giving birth to twins Max and Emme in 2008.

The look was designed by stylist Paula Bradley and had even Jennifer asking “Do you think it’s too much?” according to her longtime makeup artist Scott Barnes. Barnes finished her look by highlighting her eyes with smoky makeup including charcoal eyeliner, several coats of mascara and Swarovski crystals sprinkled over her lids.

The reaction to Jennifer’s outfit was varied with one person who wrote on their Twitter account that the outfit “made her look like some kind of weird naked barbie doll ” and another indicating that it looked like “elephant skin.” It was 10 years ago that Lopez made tongues wag when she wore that infamous navel-plunging Versace to the 2000 Grammys.

What do you think of Jennifer’s look?
