Deadspin.com reports that the Florida Highway Patrol “has ended their investigation of the Thanksgiving Night mishap that Changed America Forever. No criminal charges will be filed. Just a small fine and a very big marital mess.”
Aside from a small fine and four points (ouch!) on his driving record, Tiger is in the clear from a criminal standpoint. His golden boy image? Not so much. The gossip around the water cooler is that the accident was an indirect result of a fight Tiger had with his wife, Elin. The cause of the fight? Quite possibly one or more extramarital affairs that Eldrick (his given name) has had. Let’s just say one or more of the girls of VH1′s “Tool Academy” seem to be on a first-name basis with our Tiger.
My question – do you care? Because I don’t. I have zero, zilch, nada interest in golf. I continue to have (pretty much) zero, zilch, nada interest in Tiger and this story. In fact, I never quite understood the fascination with him. I “get” that he is far and away the best golfer of his generation (probably any generation), but as a human being I don’t find him charismatic or interesting. I don’t like or dislike him – even now with these latest revelations.
Call me jaded and cynical. Give me 60 seconds and I can easily name a dozen or more respectable, married men in the public eye or have been caught acting inappropriately. It no longer surprises me. I still don’t get it. And can I just say that Elin Nordegren is so much prettier than the two girls that have (so far) been outed as flings of Tiger. Go figure.
So do YOU care and is there a story here worth discussing?

I agree that the appeal of Tiger Woods escapes me. I don’t know the truth of what happened, obviously, but if he did cheat I kind of applaud his wife for not taking it meekly. I know he’s rich (to put it mildly), and I know it shouldn’t be all about looks, but she is way too stunning to have to put up with that crap.
I think the whole thing is just the fodder of the moment. I could care less about Tiger Woods as well. Golf does not interest me. I do think he was having a spat with the wife and I believe that he cheated but who cares when it really comes down to it?
I feel badly for his wife- other than that I have no interest whatsoever. He can swing a golf club but he is so dull anytime he has an interview or tv appearance that I simply do not care for him.
This is actually the first time I’ve listened to the entire story since this started.
I am really not interested in this story. Of course he cheated, they had problems when they were dating let alone now that they were married. This story needs to die quickly but alas all the cockroaches are going to come out of the woodwork to keep the scandel alive. It is a private matter between Tiger and his wife to handle privately.
I guess it was his youth when he started to take over the golfing world that appealed to many. His closeness to his father, and the loss of his father, were stories that appealed to my mom, at least. She seems to have almost maternal feelings for Tiger and Peyton Manning. Please let Peyton be as good as he seems.
Not sure if I CARE, but who cheats on a beautiful woman like that? And IMHO, when you cheat on your wife, you cheat on your kids too. Tiger may be a great golfer, but he’s probably just an over inflated ego like most sports stars. Like them for what they do, because who they are is probably not so awesome.
Kelly, I agree that when you cheat on your spouse your cheat on your kids.
Ditto Anya’s sentiments exactly. I can’t stand golf. I’m not interested in Tiger and he sounds like just another cheating husband. Tsk Tsk.
I am not really interested in this story but I must say that when the first report came out of the accident, my husband said something is just not quite right with all of that.
I have no idea what is wrong with men. He is a father of young children for crying out loud.
Mary,
I thought there were rumors floating around about Peyton Manning also?
when you cheat on your wife, you cheat on your kids too.
Great comment.
I think this should be private, so I am glad that the investigation is finished.
I always liked Tiger woods and I can’t explain his appeal other than he seemed like a nice guy. I’m disappointed, not surprised. I feel badly for his wife. I’m glad she’s not in any trouble.
Well, I just had to google Peyton after you asked that, Pam.
I guess there have been a few rumors over the years, but I (and my mom) have been blissfully unaware. Well, mom doesn’t google, so she’s safe from the Peyton rumors, but anyone with eyes and ears will know about Tiger’s woes.
Mary, your post made me laugh…. I’ll continue to believe Peyton is the gentleman he appears to be until proven otherwise….
After saying I wasn’t interested in this story, I came across the following on
“Rachel Uchitel, the first woman identified woman as romantically linked to Tiger Woods, is now admitting to an affair with the golfing great, after adamantly denying it, RadarOnline.com is reporting exclusively. Her attorney Gloria Allred has scheduled a press conference for Thursday, saying only in a press release that “at the news conference Ms. Allred will make a statement about Ms. Uchitel’s relationship with Tiger Woods.”
Y-u-c-k. Reason no. 5,207 why I have no respect for Gloria Allred.
Hey, Gloria, don’t you need to meet with your clients Jodi & Kevin Kreider about the child abuse occurring on reality TV????
I feel so bad for all involved. If I were his wife, I’d be insane angry, to think he was sleeping around on me when I thought we were both so blissfully looking forward to the birth of our child! And to think that he could be bringing home to me any number of diseases.
You never know what is inside a marriage, but it’s not like he’s making excuses, so it sounds like things were not horrible in the marriage. And if he’s sleeping around a lot the way the new stories make it sound, well, then he’s sick because that’s not a relationship he’s having with one other woman, that’s a sickness in my book, it’s a self-destructive sickness.
I feel bad for Tiger too, he’s got to be going through a lot of self-loathing right now. Well, I guess I’m projecting here on both Tiger and Elin on how I would be feeling if I were in either one’s shoes. Maybe she’s not as angry and/or hurt as I would be, and maybe he thinks what he did is no big deal. He might not be sorry at all, just sorry that he was caught.
But if either one of them feels the way I would feel in their situation, they have both got to be hurting very badly. So I sympathize with them both.
Nothing shocks me. But this story does interest me, my husband is an avid golfer and an avid follower of golf, so as soon as I heard Tiger Woods name on the news my ears perked up.
I don’t get the media sometimes. What is there goal anyway? To break up this family. I don’t get it. Let them heal in private now the investigation is over.
I have to share a funny story about Tiger Woods. When my husband and I were engaged both of cousins got married the summer before. Hubby’s cousin got married in a church and then had a huge reception at the Sheraton in Cincinnati, Ohio . They had a cocktail hour with food and then a sit down dinner which I am sure cost at least 50,ooo considering the amount of guest and the quality of the food. Anyhow Tiger was playing some tournament in Cincy and demanded to have the honeymoon suite, which of course they had reserved months ago. Needless to say the Sheraton took care of Tiger and took a considerable amount off the reception bill to accomodate the newlyweds since they kick them out of thier room. So how do you feel about his moral compass now?
I just laughed when this gossip came out, about his cheating because I already figured him to be a arrogant ass for kicking someone out on the wedding night. Maybe instead of a TV show called Divorced Dads Club we can call it , Big Egos/ Dumb men?
I am sure all of you ladies can find funnier titles then this.
That is a funny story, Diane. Do you happen to know who he shared the honeymoon suite with?
It appears that Rachel Uchitel is negotiating a million dollar deal to ensure her silence and not reveal previous text messages and emails between Tiger and herself. Probably more to come for Rachel. She seems to be the only one to gain anything in this situation.
So he is paying off one girl, and now they are all coming out of the woodwork. He was one busy boy!
