TLC has confirmed Kate Gosselin has a new TV series. A spokesperson for the network said Thursday that Kate’s new show will launch in the spring of 2010. “Kate Plus 8 is not in production. We are focusing on the launch of Kate’s new series in early spring,” said a network spokesperson. No details have yet been revealed by the network about Kate’s series.

I see drama in the making. Sadly whenever Kate seems to advance Jon seems to create a stir. It will be intersting what type of show they will formulate for Kate. Will I watch? I’ll let you know Spring 2010.
I love the idea of a show with only Kate. I will miss seeing the kids but think its the best thing for them.

Side note: Jon showed up at meeting today with flowers for Kate. NOW he wants to be nice.
I will miss the kids. I’ll watch the first episode and make a decision then. Probably will continue, I find her candor and sense of humor very entertaining.

Actually I think she’d do really well as a talk show host. She’s very glib and has a quick wit. I can just see her totally making fun of someone and making them laugh at themselves while she’s doing it.
I don’t understand what on earth could be a premise for a show to star Kate Gosselin. She has a nasty personality (narcissistic and opinionated), is very slow in regard to thinking and keeping a dialogue going, shows interest only in things related to herself (not even her kids very often), has delusions of grandeur and shows feelings of entitlement. I would definitely NOT watch ANY type of show with her EVEN IN it, let only starring. The kids no longer hold any interest as they have gotten older and are not in the ‘cute’ stage any longer. They also have shown her traits re entitlement (seem to feel things are owed to them). Can’t they ALL just be gone?

Hi Kate! First I like to say Happy Thanksgiving! Second, Congratulations on your new show!! I’ve been a loyal fan from the beginning. It made me sad to hear that Jon & Kate plus 8 was coming to a close. Even though we’ve never met, I’ve always looked at you like a sister or a best friend. No matter what is going on you have my full attention. Seeing you in several interviews reminded me of my own childhood. The thoughtful, confusing, yet sad look, had brief interruptions of happy thoughts and smiles. I am one of seven children. I have four brothers and two sisters. I am also the middle child. Like many families, my parents struggled. Things got ugly on more than one occasion. When I was about eleven, my parents decided it was time to split. I was confused and mad for many years. Eventually, I did come to the conclusion that my parents really did do their very best. My mother was a very strong woman and rarely did I see her cry. But on one occasion , I saw her sneak to her room. I followed her only to fine her sitting on the edge of her bed with her hands to her face crying. I asked her if she was ok. She said I’m ok . We’re ok. And yet she was still crying. I stayed with her an though she didn’t want me to see her this way. I too began to cry. I remember her asking why I was crying. Because you’re sad I said. After that moment I think that we really understood each other. And so within your look, I saw the look of my mother. I mostly remember my mother with a smile, but on this day she didn’t really wear one. -My parents ,they actually got better at being parents. They even got to a point of being friends again.-Kate, may God always bless you and your beautiful children. May He always shine His light on all of you and light your way. This is good news. I am happy for Kate and the family. I wonder where it will film? Will they have to move? I’ll be watching the show at first…if I like it, or if I don’t, but still like blogging about it, I’ll be here to talk about it!
Regarding Jon and the roses: Thanks for the link, Paula. Flowers are always nice, unless they are something to draw tabloid coverage, that is. I bet an apology and a change in public comments to public silence would make a bigger impact though.

Why? Why can’t people who like Kate watch her and those who don’t move on to something else? Nobody forces anyone to pay attention to the Gosselins. And Kate Gosselin doesn’t have to be off TV for them to be gone to anyone who chooses not to follow her life.
I look forward to seeing what the show with Kate will be all about. She is vilified so much that I think if anyone deserves happiness it is here.

Barbee, I agree with Judy…if Kate offends you and you just wish they’d all go away, why do you even take the time out of the day to visit ANY Gosselin site..good or bad? I was taken aback that you would presume that those precious little children have a “sense of entitlement.” Those babies are 5 years old…most kids think that money grows on trees, but it is our job as parents to teach them otherwise and to be respectful. I have never felt that the Gosselin children were being bratty or ungrateful, but even if I did, I certainly wouldn’t post it on a website dedicated to thoughtfully discussing their family.
I apologize if I sound “snarky” in this post however the Mama Bear comes out in me when someone speaks in a negative light about ANY children that didn’t ask for the criticism and can’t defend themselves.
As far as Kate having her own show in Spring of 2010…great for her! She will now be able to provide for her family while getting the kids out of the limelight as much as possible. Hopefully now that people can’t scream “exploitation” any longer, the papparazzi and media will back off…of course, with Jon in the equation, I doubt he’ll let that happen.

i don’t know about the legality of this but if the j&k+8 show is ended…then that ends the contract, right? and since that contract is ended then when kate gets a new show…will the clause in the old contract that if one of the parents wants the filming to stop for any reason it stops not be an issue if not written intot he new contract? and if jon isn’t involved in or a part of the new contract then we could see the kids in kate’s new show…right?
i think in the new show we’ll see the kids…maybe not as much as now but i think they will be filmed…and possibly the kids will be under contract too and tlc will adhere by whatever laws govern child actors in pa…and therefore be making $$ of their own.

I can only speak for myself but there are actually 10 Gosselins. We can cheer for the kids who make up the majority of the family and have had no voice. I can’t stand either Jon or Kate but I do hope the kids come out on top. Just because they can’t hold a press conference or attend interviews and be passive-agressive by having statements made without actually saying anything themselves doesn’t mean they don’t count. By standing by the kids one is actually pro Gosselin by 80%. I personally have much disdain for 20% of the family which isn’t much when you look at it.
What interests me is that TLC is continuing to show Kate in a horrible light. I don’t watch the show but you can’t get away with not seeing anything when every channel and every show is discussing it. Her actions at AAA were horrid. Why, if they want to work with her, would they continue to bring to light things they had not shown that shows her in such a shrew way? I wonder if they have much footage they haven’t shown and are using it against her in discussions. Any footage they have from the show can be run over and over again for years. Funny how the photogs aren’t getting any footage anymore. Could it be that TLC or the parents actually arranged for them to show up? Now that the kids can’t legally be filmed anymore it magically stops.
I can’t stand the messenger or how the message was delivered but I am glad that ultimately the kids were taken off the show.
I am no fan of heckman or his political beliefs but this is fascinating. I wondered how and when the “hate Kate” movement started.
No wonder Kate needs a body guard.
I do watch the show so I am confidant saying that TLC is not showing Kate in a bad light.

Wow, thank you Paige for that link. I have been wondering for months how and why the hate started, I would have a gun if I were Kate Gosselin, and I wonder if she has any permanent stalkers that actually show up at her home.
Kate makes cleaning a refrigerator interesting and her new show will be a hit. I read somewhere that she will visit farmers markets, but I can’t remember the context. I think it will be great if the show is just about a single mom and her daily life. I hope we get a glimpse of the kids too.
I have a question about the house, who will get it? They have to decide that, right? But, if one of them gets it, wouldn’t that change the shared custody agreement?
I am not so sure that Heckman is right regarding Dana Hoffman’s starting Gwop. It could be true, but he’ll need to show some links to tie the two together. He hasn’t. As for the links accusing the blogger of fraud…they are just accusations. He had a photo posted of her mocking her for her political beliefs. To me, he’s as much of a hater as any one he accuses.
Heckman sold t-shirts on his website accusing the Gosselins of running a ponzi scheme. He came to my attention through the very hate blog he is skewering bcause he was getting support over a Kate-likeness he made with swastikas imposed on it. He runs another hate blog, he’s just targeting another woman this time.
He’s right about the level of hate for Kate Gosselin. She stirs strong feelings, pro and con, in many people. He’s just failing to admit he’s a part of it.
I will be tuning in to see Kate’s new show. I think this summer her appearances seemed very somber and stiff. I chalk that up to the stress of the divorce and the behavior of her soon to be ex. But prior to that she was candid and funny so I hope by spring she’s back to her old on camera self.
I really don’t have an opinion on the kids. I am not their parent so I’m not judging someone else’s lives.
The Heckman article is interesting. I remember the hate starting way before the show. I mean really, these kids are exploited? Where was the this outrage for the Osborne or Hogan kids? They actually dropped out of high school to film. Where is the outrage for the Duggars or Roloffs? No, this isn’t about child advocacy. It’s negative opinion about one person. I just don’t think it’s good karma to hate like that.
I had read that Laura Bennett (Project Runway ‘Bad Mommy’) was thinking of a reality show. Now that should take a lot of heat off KG. Laura’s new book is titled, “Didn’t I Feed You Yesterday?: A Mother’s Guide to Sanity in Stilettos”

Kimmee, I doubt the kids will be shown, unless Kate gets sole care, custody and control and I doubt that’s going to happen anytime in the near future. And if they are shown, Jon will probably demand a piece of the action. Some of it would hinge on the terms of the existing contract, of course, as to whether it’s still in force. Ending a contract involves everyone signing off on it at the very least. There is also the issue of the lawsuit filed by TLC against for breach of contract. They are probably not going to cancel the contract themselves, as it could have a negative impact on the outcome of that suit. Not to mention that if they are the ones to broach cancelling the contract, both Jon and Kate would be well within their rights to ask for a payoff. I certainly would, if it were up to me. If it’s still in force, then the kids can’t be shown, as it would violate the cease and desist Jon put in place. And that is sad, they’re getting more fun all the time as their personalities start to emerge. I think they are all just adorable and fun kids and I’m going to miss watching them grow up.
It’s all a really complicated mess and will be hard to untangle.
As far as who gets the house, since they have both stated that no matter what, the kids stay in the house, it could be put in a family trust in the kids names, and Jon and Kate can be held responsible for 50% of the house payments each, which they already are, since I’m sure the house is in both their names and they both signed the note. Then the shared custody agreement would mean neither one actually lives there, they visit the kids for whatever extended period of time they agree on and the judge finds workable. In essence, they would be guests in the kids house. I would hope they can come to some agreement like that, for the kids sake. It would involve both parents and probably a third neutral party being trustees, which would require all trustees to sign off on decisions regarding the house, such as major repairs or borrowing against the property.
Lastly, Barbee, I’m participate in this site because we all try to have respect and compassion for the Gosselins and each other. It isn’t a Hate Kate group and I’m curious as to why you would post here. I really don’t want to read Hate Kate rhetoric, I’m an old woman with high blood pressure, reading nasty things just isn’t good for my health. I never go on the GWOP site but it might be a more appropriate venue for you. I’m sure you’d be more ocomfortable there than you would be with us.

Maybe the roses were to help Jon get his Thanksgiving invite back. Someone mentioned awhile back that maybe he could go to his family for Tday, and I was thinking, if no one else wants him, surely his new best buddies, Jo&Ke, would have him over.
I think, for Kate’s new show, every week she should try to do something outside her comfort zone. Like, sky-diving, driving a race car, fishing, working as a waitress or at Target. Sort of like Dirty Jobs, but not quite as dirty. That way, the haters could make fun of her for messing up, and the not-haters could praise her for trying, and having a sense of humor about herself.
And, maybe, if they could work it out, the kids could be on, individually, once in a while, to comment on what she does.

caren i think the house is already in some kind of trust for the kids. that was the talk when they first bought it. which is probably why they both pay the same amount of all the monthly expenses.

Anyway, I will definately give Kate’s show a chance. What can I say, I think she makes for good TV, LOL. I say that with affection. Her sense of humor and her flaws (left open for all to see) make her interesting to watch.
And I would be lying if I didn’t say I want this to be a success for Kate. All signs point that she will be the primary financial support of the kids going forward. Since I am quite fond of the 8, I want their mom to do well.

In case you’re still around, Anya, and just in case trixie doesn’t come back in, I think she’s talking about the passport scene in the Never Before Seen episode. Kate’s reaction to Jon was seen by many as over the top, but some mentioned there was probably tension between them before the scene that made them both a bit testy.
I would watch a show where Kate goes into people’s houses and get them organized – that I think would be pretty amusing. But her own talk show – no way.

trixie i don’t think it was pre-troubles. it was this spring/summer. they separated in may. it was during the time when jon was going to the hamptons to france etc. of course kate was frustrated and angry…ya know? and i don’t think it made her look bad at all…given what she was going through.

I will definitely watch a show featuring Kate Gosselin. She was always the primary reason I watched the show. Episodes that featured Jon alone with the children were dull and uninspiring. I, like many others hope that Kate plus 8 will happen at some point. I believe the show was a positive experience for the family. The show offered numerous opportunities that otherwise would have never occurred. Let’s remember to that the negative press really didn’t exist until Jon went out partying in PA and was caught on camera. His actions have been devasting to the family. He is possibly the most selfish person on earth. I couldn’t believe he admitted tonight on the last episode how free he felt after the marriage was over. Doesn’t he realize how hurtful that is to Kate? Even if he feels that way, television is not the place to admit it. So what if he was 21 when he got married and 23 with his first two kis. Does he really think he is the first human being to have children at a young age. I had my first at 20 and unable to have anymore children. Instead I got involved in foster parenting and fostered over 20 children. I never felt burdened but viewed it as a blessing to me. He keeps repeating that he is only 32. Well whoooppee Jon. The writing is on the wall for you. The only women you will attract are golddiggers and camera frenzied psychos!!!
Kate should offer money to Jon to make him go away. I believe he has a price tag on anything and everything. Pay him to go AWAY and start filming Kate plus 8 even if it is set up as monthly specials. Kate needs the income as a single parent of eight. I grow tired of the comments from people who say she doesn’t deserve it. TLC did approach them to do the show, not the other way around. Who wouldn’t take that opportunity if it was offered to them. Kate would never do anything to harm her children and is their biggest advocate.
Good luck Kate with your new show. I am sure it will be awesome. I would love to see a mixture of parenting issues, cooking, organizing your home and real issues that face single parents. Perhaps she could feature guests who are single parents of large families. I believe this show could grow into a major network contract. Kate is very appealing on television and always well prepared. I am on the pro-Kate team. Jon can ride his horse or flavor of the month into the sunset and I hope we never hear from him again. He is a despicible father, husband and human being.
I wish you the best Kate Gosselin and children, especially through the upcoming holidays that will not be spent as a united family. It will be difficult but one thing you have proven is how you persever through anything. I truely believe that your children will prosper and thrive even better with you being the primary parent. Me and my sister think that you should start your own show with the kids but that is our opinion. When the show was on, it was a family show and I loved everyone in it. Now, because Jon had a wild hair or two, we all pay for it. Jon and Kate Plus Eight was one of my favorite shows. I loved watching the kids grow up and will miss them terribly. I wish Kate would continue to show the kids growing up and taking them on their little trips. It really was educational for them and for my kids also. Maybe they don’t get to travel like that, but it sure seemed like it they were there. They enjoyed watching the kids reactions to everything. We will miss them.

Diana, please don’t presume to speak for “everyone”, it’s demeaning and insulting to me. I loved Jon and Kate Plus 8 and I will miss this show a lot. Many of the people who communicate on this forum are supporters of the show, the children and Kate (maybe Jon not so much) and we sincerely mourn the loss of the show and all the sad and bitter struggles this family is going through. When I was a little girl I was taught the following saying; “If you can’t speak well of someone, don’t speak at all.” It is a saying that you should, perhaps, take to heart.
And if TLC is using the Gosselins and the Gosselins are using TLC, that is a win/win situation. That makes both TLC and the Gosselins winners, in my book. Kate has openly admitted the show was her work, and she did a good job at it, IMO. If they benefitted from it, more to the good.

I think Kate is a very strong woman who can do anything she sets her mind to. It takes someone with heart and endurance to raise 8 children; hosnestly can you image dealing with 6 kids throwing terrible 2 tantrums on a daily basis. I would lose my mind doing that. I wish her all the best and I’m definitely looking forward to see what her show is about.

The most recent announcement that TLC was definitely going with a new show for Kate really boosted my spirits. I really loved the show and I am going to miss watching those babies grow and develop but life is all about change. I will most certainly watch Kates new show, because whatever it is she’s sure to be interesting. One of the things I love about Kate is her candor and honesty. I’m a pretty good judge of character and I don’t recall a single time when I thought Kate was being “fake”. She tells it like it is. She’s spooked by heights, spiders, snakes, vermin and dirt and doesn’t care if the whole world knows it. So am I, to tell the truth. The difference is that Kate can be persuaded to try new things and also doesn’t care if people see her change her mind and actually like doing something she was really scared of. I call that courage.

My late husband was trained as a policeman in London, England (a Bobby) and they had to memorize the following, so they wouldn’t over react during the Anti-Vietnam war demonstrations. “Idle and silly remarks are unworthy of notice and should be completely disregarded”. Regardless of what Kate ends up doing, I hope she is successful for her children’s sake. Same for Jon.
I truly hope the kids are left out of filming. There’s no need to continue to film them. People’s curiosity about the kids isn’t reason enough. IMO, I think they need to be left alone. Maybe they’ll have an easier transition into the rest of their life if there isn’t a show following their daily lives. As we’ve already seen, there is less interest in the children from the media, their pictures aren’t being taken anymore. So I think that’s a positive step for the family.
I liked Jon and Kate plus 8 in the begining when it was about a family struggling to raise 8 little kids…but as the show went on it bacame more about showing off the money and lets travel all over the place. Most families, even ones with just two kids do not do that much traveling and back stage passes to theaters and ball games and all of that. I wanted to continue to see the “reality” of this family. The last couple seasons it wasn’t reality anymore, not in the sense that real people did that sort of thing. And I totally agree with what someone said above I would def watch a show with Kate organizing people’s homes….not so much a talk show or cooking show blah blah no thanks. Lets see her come into people’s houses and straghten out the chaos!
Dear Kate, In the eyes of this 64 year old woman: Life happens to all of us. There is nothing new under the sun. Asking for forgiveness and giving forgiveness are the key! Pray constantly and wait upon the LORD to answer…no matter how long it takes…in HIS WISDOM, LOVE, MERCY AND GRACE, HE WILL open and close doors. As a fellow pro-active woman, I have found it is best not to force my own will on my life…there are so many ways this can be translated…It is your assignment to discover them for yourself.Asking GOD to reveal your strengths and weaknesses allows you to understand where you need to grow for HIM to have POWER in your life. Pray for GOD to intervene for his sake as well. and the children’s. Stay true to yourself…do not conform yourself to the world. You are most beautiful in my view as you were with the short hairstyle…why change yourself to please anyone but your true self and the LORD…it is your ‘signature style’. Pray earnestly for GOD’S WILL to be done in your life. Study and live by HIS WORD so that you WILL and CAN trust GOD in all things, in HIS OWN TIMING. Your marriage vows are a covenant with GOD…and “greater is HE that is within you, than he that is in the world”.
Most important is to be a faithful example to your children and let the world observe you as an example of a woman after GOD’S OWN HEART. Reading your Bible: David and Daniel both exhibit imperfection yet GOD calls them each “a man after HIS OWN HEART.” Read about Homer and the wonderful outcome to a relationship gone wrong. In a self-centered world, you will always have persecution/criticism. Trust in GOD and fear nothing…everything is possible to those who believe in HIM. GOD BLESS YOU…it begins with YOU and your willingness to raise your children in the way that HE would have them go. (All paraphrasing…Search the scriptures and seek the TRUTH for yourself… that is where your strength and power will be!)

I’ve heard other people say this and I feel differently. First of all, it was J&K’s reality; they were and are real people. Were they “average” people once their standard of living got higher? No, but they never were average, anyway – they wouldn’t have had a TV show if they had been. I always just watched for the kids and the family interactions, and those never got less entertaining (except for the tension between J&K, which did get difficult to watch at times). I never really saw the appeal of watching a family “struggle” – to each her own, I guess.
I enjoyed watching Jon and Kate plus 8. I’m wondering if Jon would agree to let Kate plus 8 move forward if he were given a “stipend” as the “other” parent and then a little extra cash for when he did make a “guest” appearance with the kids.
I feel he put his foot down to Kate plus 8 because he was completely cut out of the deal. Throw the dog a bone, and let him gnaw on it. It was clear he really didn’t want to do the show anyway.
Every parent “struggles” to raise their children, SO let me clarify for those that don’t grasp the concept. By struggling I mean coping with day do day life. The ups and downs of normal every day stuff that happens. (which the first few seasons were about)I didn’t mean that they should be poor. There is a huge difference. I said it used to be about watching a real family do real things. Real families aren’t out on field trips accross country every other week. People were tunning in to see how a family coped with 8 small children, not to watch them flaunt how much money they had suddenly received or how they could jet set off with their enterrage of nannies, and extra help flitting across the country. That’s not reality and I agree it did BECOME thier reality….but that’s not what got people watching in the first place.
I agree people began watching bc of the family. Most of the field trips. Were boring to watch. I don’t think it was about them flaunting money- especially since they were paid for by production. It was about TLC deciding that viewers would get bored watching diapers being changed and lunches being packed. Nothing more.
I know it’s an older thread/post but … obviously I can’t keep my mouth shut, LOL! On the topic of Jon allowing Kate plus 8 to move forward if they paid him a stipend: from what I read at the time as well as subsequently, Jon would have remained under contract, regardless of Kate plus 8 or Jon & Kate plus 8 being the title. His pay would not have changed. He would actually have “worked” less, likely alot less, and still got the same amount of money. When he “shut down” production, he was the sole person responsible for no more paycheck. Even the court papers of TLC versus Jon, stated that he would have continued to be paid for the remainder of his contract, regardless of his “on screen” time.

Kate, you are a very strong and wonderful mother and person. I was completly devistated, when I herd about the end of “Jon and Kate plus 8″, It was almost like my heart was broken just as well. I am very proud how you just went on did what you set out to do in the beginning. I wish you the best of luck, and I will be watching the new show, I can’t wait!!

I would not watch either Kate or John in a show!! I would like to see a yearly show of how the Children are doing.
My personal feeling are these Reality shows are not good for relationships!! Its sad that this family has split because of TLC. Money is more important than being a family!!! I don’t want to hear oh Kate is doing this to support the Children either. Kate could go back to work as a nurse, and John back to his job, and be able to take care of the family just fine. They are not movie stars!! They are nothing special!! They are suppose to be a family raising their Children!! They both need to stop the BS and put their Childrens needs first.
To tell the truth, I will watch a show with Kate Gosselin, if only to piss off the GWOPers. Actually, I would anyway, I like Kate. What I don’t understand though, is why the KateHaters have singled her out for this vitriol? Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have a huge family and they are both rich and famous, continue to work in show business and have never even married. Many, many stars are having children, both in and out of wedlock, Suri Cruise is photographed so often it’s amazing. But Kate is a terrible person and a terrible mother because she did the TLC show. Her physical appearance (even things she hasn’t changed) is considered a character defect, like if she was really a decent person and a good mother, she wouldn’t have what one GWOPer referred to as “cankles”. The fact that she had a tummy tuck, got extensions, and on and on are grist for the mill. I had twins and I had a tummy tuck. Does that mean I’m a terrible person? Since there are both State and Federal laws that have been in place for donkeys years, why do they insist that the children are being harmed? The State has watched the filming for the entire length of the show and would have shut it down if the children were being harmed by it. It’s so odd to me.
P.S. I wouldn’t watch a Jon show, though. I think he’s childish, petulant and selfish. And he has zero charisma.
Thanks DH for clarifying Jon’s financial status and contract obiligations with TLC for me. I did not know the things you brought up.
My opinion now …. Jon shot himself in the foot and didn’t know a good thing when he had it. Sounds like he could have had the autonomy he desired without having anything else to do with the show PLUS a paycheck. I guess that shows his lack of business sense.

Sounds like you need to do something nice for yourself, to help fight that bad energy oozing from your post. Maybe a haircut, tan, or manicure would help you find your happy place? Give it a try, it works.. I don’t think Kate will be going away anytime soon, but you do have the option not to watch.
I would watch any show that kate had. Ibeleive she should continue with kate plus 8!!!!

PLEASE don’t put Kate and her kids back on TV!!!! When their show was on TLC, there was such negative energy. When the show was cancelled, it was like a breath of fresh air!! What these selfish parents did to their children by going public with all their dirty laundry should be considered criminal! I fully predict the Gosselin 8 will need extentive therapy! Does anyone even care what these two selfish parents have done to their children? TLC use better judgement. Don’t just put a show on TV to satisfy people’s interest in negative drama going on in other people lives! The families that you have on now are such wonderful examples of what family life is meant to be like. It’s enjoyable to watch. But I feel if you put Kate and her kids back on, I will just give up on watching your network all together!

Not to mention, we don’t actually have any control over TLC here (although that would be fun!).
